- Best type of lighting for HDTV is of low intensity with shades (indirect lighting). The room should be barely visible with the TV switched off. That's the kind of lighting used while mastering movies too. Kind of lamp- Simple bulbs are preferred since they don't spoil the sine waves and so the sound/picture quality will not be affected. Some companies like Philips have come out with TV's that have an ambient lighting behind the TV. It's supposed to be easy for the eyes. I find it more disturbing but the black levels appear better. Set the lamps so that they don't give out any direct light and you are unable to see any light being reflected off the screen when the TV is off. My room has a low intensity lamp high up on the wall, behind the TV with a shade. I even prefer to switch it off usually. - Yes, they can work together. However, I suggest you test the bulbs with the fluorescent paint. Generally, fluorescent black-light units put out more UV than the single incandescent bulbs. Don't forget the mirror ball, either. It wouldn't hurt to pick up an old projector and put some colored oil psychedelic stuff on the wall. And add some lava lamps for mood. Party on...

- The old professor says that light pollution is the bane of astronomers and other sky watchers. - Wider is better since it covers more area.. what you really need is a tripod and a manual focus setting and the ability to set your exposure to 20-30 seconds or bulb through the use of a cable release or timer.
