Q: Can solar panels be installed on vehicles?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on vehicles. They are commonly used on electric cars, boats, and recreational vehicles to harness solar energy and help charge their batteries.
Q: Can the solar panels available be coated with a material (to improve it's looks) and not alter it's efficiency?
No. The only coatings I am aware of are those that reduce reflection so more light gets through the protective surface to the actual cells. Anything thing that affects appearance is going to be reflecting light back to the viewer and the photons of that light are not available for electricity or heat. If the appearance of the panels offends you, then they need to be concealed by a fence of panels around them that do not throw shadows on the panels.

This is my system: Solar Panelcharge controllerBatteryInverterLights. Keep positive to positive, negative to negative. The solar panel has a cable that has a polarised two pin disconnect (more or less takes care of itself), as does the harness that connects to the battery, a couple of extension cords, and the charge controller itself. The harness in its current install is fixed to the inverter DC in studs, which has a cable that is fixed to the battery. The harness also had a fuse holder and 0A fuse. Except the battery, panel, and lights themselves, all the works are in a mostly sealed box with only panel, battery, and AC cables leaving. The mains voltage lights (about 3x23W CFL) are connected to a power inlet, which is linked to the inverter power outlet with a short cord. The lights are controlled by turning the inverter on or off with its control switch. The inverter is a 400W cheapo, battery 36Ah AGM, panel 20W, controller basic 7A.
Q: If my school uses 88240kWh of electricity per month and I have 000 50W solar panels running for 6 hours a day, does it mean it will take 88240kWh / {{[(50W x 3600s)*000]/000}kWh x 6} number of hours to generate that much electricity (88240kWh)?
your first question: Does a 50W solar panel generate 540kWh? 540 kW-hr / 50W = 3600 hours it would take that long for the panel to generate that amount of energy. your second question is confused, as you both stipulate the number of hours at 6 hours per day, and you try to solve for the number of hours. 000 x 50w = 50 kW 50 kW x 6 hr/day x 30 day/mo = 27000 kW-hr/mo = 27 MW-hr/mo that is the amount of energy generated. That is nowhere close to 88240 kWh or 88 MW-hr. I would take 7 times more solar panels to generate that much energy. .

It's not really the solar panels that power the house, they charge a battery bank and there's an inverter that jumps the battery power up to household current level. If you start getting into more expensive systems, they can sense when the batteries are full and start diverting power into the local electric grid. Some places the electric company is required to pay you for generating current, other places tell you tough luck. I suggest looking on OKorder or something at some of the home solar kits on sale there and look at how large a house they are rated for to get an idea of how big a system you're going to need. I don't know if you have access to the power bill history of the house you're getting in Dubai, but the power company there might be able to provide you with a history of average kW hours the house consumes. A 2400 sqft house with a gas stove and a gas water heater and wood heat is going to consume far less electricity than a house with all electric appliances and the consumption history of an individual house should reflect that so you can buy appropriately.
Q: I am looking to wire in some solar panels into my home. I already have plenty of wiring, and some solar panels around. I just need to know what I need to do to wire them into my home so I can lower my electric bill. This past month it was six hundred dollars.Can someone direct me to some information, or tell me how without telling me to hire some guy to come out to charge me thirty thousand dollars to install two or three thousand dollars worth of equipment?
You okorder / If you are planing to build an off grid system or a grid tie system, it should be wired by an electrician. At the lest by someone that knows what they are doing. If it is a grid tie system you will need the local building inspector to sign the paper work before the public utility will allow you to hook in. To get the inspector to sign off you have to get a permit which requires a lic. electrician.
Q: I'm thinking of getting a solar panel for my house to help cut back on power use (I live in New Mexico). What sort of appliances can I run on a watt solar panel? Is it worth it to get a single watt panel or is it more efficient to get a multi-watt panel?
You can run a lot of things. If you set the system to charge batteries when you are not using anything, they will charge effectively. You can use the system for lighting, LED lighting direct from the battery power is most effient since LEDs are low voltage devices with a very long life span. I replaced a 2 tube flourescent trough with four 5Watt PowerLEDs for example, While I have it on 20VAC at the moment, I can move it to 2 VDC power with ease, and had set it up to run initially on 2 volt sources. There are also many 2 volt appliances as well. You can even convert some of those all in one stereo systems to operate on 2 volts by eliminating the power supply. You will actually use less power by doing so. You will not be able to blow the shingles off the roof unless you add a Class D amplifier to the output, but for most listening, the output is adequate. Some small TV's these days can be run from 2 volt sources, if not directly, then with a buckboost inverter for a laptop. The small TVs only draw about 30 to 45 Watts. Skip the idea of using an inverter, they are not efficient at small loads, and represent additional load on the system. So with a little bit of planning, you can run a lot from that 60 Watt system. You can at least take some bite out of the electric bill for mundane lighting. You can also use them to keep power up on a battery system for lighting in a remote barn. The uses are only limited by your imagination and creativity.
