- All of the new professional flat irons on the market today are wonderful. The ones that have solid ceramic plates instead of ceramic coated are better because the ceramic coating will eventually wear off in spots. I have 2 Rusk irons at home and I use a CHI and a Centrix one at work. They all work great and I can't say I favor one over the other. Use a flat iron spray like the CHI iron spray or the Matrix Sleek Look flat iron spray and make sure you take small thin sections of hair and you'll get fantastic results. These irons come with different heat setting so make sure you start off in the middle till you get a feel for how hot your iron is. If you decide to use it on its high setting, make sure you glide the iron through your hair quickly to avoid frying your hair. Hope this helps.

- Hi there - do you regularly use starch on your clothes? I am a sewer, and find that after years of ironing with starch it will build up on my iron and ironing board - but usually this takes many, many years. Something may have been ironed at a heat too hot for the fabric, and the fabric may have melted. I don't think you can clean it off, unless maybe you get the iron very hot, and try to wipe it all off onto some scrap fabric of some kind. If it is in the steam holes, then your iron may be ruined. You might have to buy a new iron, and be very careful to use the correct settings so you don't melt anymore fabric. Good luck! :)
