So since liberals appear to want to replace natural energy with man made products, that cause massive pollution by the way to make- How long will that take 30 years, 00 years? A string of satellites orbiting the Earth would be incredibly expensive. Even if solar power were to reach economic viability, we would put them on the ground where we could use them. Given the amount of advanced renewable sources of energy already being developed there is absolutely no reason to launch a power plant into space. Wow - watched the youtube video... that is possible the worst invention ever and I hope it never catches on. The last thing we need are retards who are too lazy to plug in their phones wasting electricity on highly inefficient wireless transfer when many parts of the world are facing energy shortages. Regular chargers are already bad enough because they constantly drain electricity even when not in use. I am definitely not an environmental saint but this thing is just stupid.

- Depending on the material and operating temperature of the panel, it MAY be possible to fix it very simply and easily by applying Hot Glue Gun adhesive over the cracked area. The high temperature glue gun adhesive melts at approximately 60 degrees Farenheit, and if the collector temperature does not quite reach, or exceed that operating temperature, then that repair method should work. Another possibility is an aerosol spray can product called LeakEnder. This is usually available at your local hardware store, or the major home improvement centers [like Lowe's, Sutherland's, Home Depot, McCoy's, etc.]. After preparing the area to be patched by cleaning, you just spray the LeakEnder patching material on the crack and an eighth of an inch or so around. IF the operating pressure or the collector is very low, it MAY even be possible to patch the leak with nothing more than a narrow strip of DUCT TAPE!!!!! Another possibility, but unless carefully accomplished is to weld the crack with a Soldering Gun and some scrap plastic from packaging material. The problem with this fix is that you must be very experienced in application of heat from the Soldering Gun, OR you will melt a larger hole in the collector tube than the crack was. Regardless of patching method, it is CRITICAL that the cracked area to be patched MUST be CLEAN and DRY BEFORE applying any patching material. Good luck!

- Consider installing building energy measurement first, which cost less than $200. Work out what is using the energy and if there are more efficient options. Consider co-generation which uses gas for an energy input and electricity generation and heat as an output. - Good answer above me. One other tip, look at your full year's usage. Last month, if it was cold, you probably didn't have your air conditioner on. Our house uses 500-600 kWh a month average, but we have no air conditioner. To generate all of this requires a 3 kW array in our part of California. That's only to give you an idea of what it takes - what you need will be based on how much sun your area gets, and what percentage of power you want to get from the array. If you pay tiered electric rates, it may make sense to displace only part of your electricity with solar. Or it may not make financial sense at all, if you have cheap electricity where you live. To get the best assessment of what kind of system would be appropriate, try to get one or two no-obligation quotes from local companies. You can always turn down the bids, but at least you will have learned what's involved and the approximate cost.
