Q: Can someone please give me a BRIEF, EASY-TO-UNDERSTAND explanation of the following metal music genres and an example of a band for each one? (Or at least just some of them please)Alternative metal Avant-garde metalBlack metal Christian metal Death metal Doom metal Drone metal Extreme metalFolk metal Glam metal Gothic metal Groove metal Heavy metalIndustrial metal Metalcore Neo-classical metal Nu metal Pirate metalPost-metal Power metal Progressive metal Rap metalSludge metal Speed metal Stoner metal Symphonic metalThrash metal Viking metal Also, which genre do you think is best?Thank You!!!!!!!
Prog okorder
Q: what is an alkali metal? What is a valence electron?
Metallica is not Metal, well not anymore, they used to be, sometime before St. Anger. They are still overated even from before that they were an average thrash band. Metal and Hard Rock are far from similar. Metal is much more about the music than rock. Rock is all about the main singer, metal is much more about the instumentals. Generic metal is like hard rock, but generic metal is c*rap. So stop saying hard rock is like metal because it is not true. But ya Metallica was metal, mediocre, but still metal. And having metal in they're name doesn't make them metal, look at metaloids, they wish they were metals too.
Q: What kind of music do you like better between grunge or hair metal? For me it's the hair metal bands
AMON AMARTH! They're like the kings of Viking metal
Q: Know any good death metal bands? Children of Bodom rules!!!
Some people label them that, yes. But that would be the genre-confused youth of today. They're not. And I can only hope and pray that nu-metal IS dying..
Q: I thought they're the same, tbh. But someone told me not.If there's a difference between them, what is it the difference? And give recommendation of black metal.. Is the band Skeletonwitch black metal?
Glam is softest. If you even consider it metal. I'd said darkest/heaviest would be doom.
Q: Which genre of metal has more rhythm, Black or Death?
Industrial Metal mostly from here in Europe started in the 80s. It is a mixture of electronica and heavy metal. Some of the better bands include Pitchshifter, Ministry, Godflesh, KMFDM, Mushroomhead, Fear Factory. Edit: I recommend Triad by Pitchshifter and Destruction by Pitchshifter as starting points. Pitchshifter are very popular UK band.
Q: heavy metal songs
I'm going to piss off a lot of people by saying this, but metal fans in general tend to be really hung up on the whole identity thing and tend to sort of be musical snobs. You see, creating these sub genres makes it appear as if metal is far more complex than the series of power chords and pinch harmonics that it really is. It's all about image and what band or sub genre expresses the image the listener wants to portray. There are more posers in the metal genre fan base than all others combined. I have nothing against metal music at all, just making an observation as a long time musician. Bring on the flames metal heads...
Q: Pick ONE song for each genre that could best sum up what it's all about, in your opinion.Thrash MetalPower MetalBlack MetalDeath MetalHeavy Metal(in general)
From autumn to ashes. I cant put a name to the genre i like... its wide
Q: What is the difference between metals and non-metals? Please give sevral differences and only educated answers only. No well meaning guesses!
Rush is prog rock AC/DC is high voltage rock-n-roll, not really metal I wouldn't call Van Halen or Deep Purple metal bands. Especially VH. don't listen to it much, But Alice Cooper is the KING of shock rock and I like him
Q: I was kind of confuzzed about the differences between these genres! You don't have to explain every single one of them but just the ones that you know! * 1 Alternative metal * 2 Avant-garde metal * 3 Black metal * 4 Christian metal * 5 Crust punk * 6 Death metal * 7 Doom metal * 8 Drone metal * 9 Extreme metal * 10 Folk metal * 11 Funk metal * 12 Glam metal * 13 Gothic metal * 14 Grindcore * 15 Groove metal * 16 Industrial metal * 17 Metalcore * 18 Melodic death metal * 19 Neo-classical metal * 20 Nintendocore * 21 Nu metal * 22 Post-metal * 23 Power metal * 24 Progressive metal * 25 Rap metal * 26 Sludge metal * 27 Southern Metal * 28 Speed metal * 29 Stoner metal * 30 Symphonic metal * 31 Technical death metal * 32 Thrash metal * 33 Traditional heavy metal * 34 Viking metal
I often think along these lines, but to my knowledge nobody has taken this seriously. Bon Jovi did the soundtrack for Young Guns II, and it had what was then considered a metal sound. Now a bunch of that stuff is just considered hard rock. So even if someone were to do it, they would run into a boundary dispute of what is metal and what is hard rock. Looking on what is now considered country music from the perspective of a child of the 80s, it looks like a lot of the current country is at least as heavy as the hard rock of the 80s.
