- Q: The slab can vary in depth from -1inch to 0inch over a 10 foot range.we tried self leveling concrete. some parts of our initial pour,when we just learning did not turn out so well. now there are small areas that are as much as +.75inches.Can we shave/grind the high spots down. Do you recommend that we grind these spots down before installing the flooring?
- I do highly reccomend doing a job right. If you want a good job, either do a level set or rent a grinder and level the floor.

- Q: Hello,We had an engineered oak floor installed in our home two weeks ago. The floor was glued down over the cement slab. What we have noticed is (1) there are a lot of gaps between the slats (some as big as 1.5 mm); and (2) there is one area where the glue did not stick and now the wood is lifting. This area is in the middle of the entry hallway and we hear a hollow sound when walking on this place (it can be pushed down by hand). My question is are these normal or do we need to contact the installer/dealer to have something done or complain? Thanks in advance for your advice.Jim
- I think the floor was improperly installed,if they didn't leave a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch expansion joint around the edges your floor is buckling.
- Q: Trying to redo the basement. Do I need to lay some type of subfloor or can I lay the engineered flooring directly onto the concrete?
- In most cases you lay down a thin sheet of foam that helps to keep the temp. from transferring to your wood floor plus it makes it quieter to walk on ..You might want to seal the concrete floor first..Check the label on the package you do not want to void the warranty..Hope this helps

- The floating engineered wood flooring will go over perfectly , w/o a problem. If your engineered wood needs to be glued down, you need to make sure the glue recommended for the wood is compatible to adhere to and won t react to your lino or vinyl.
