2.Description

Aluminium is theoretically 100% recyclable without any loss of its natural qualities. According to the International Resource Panel's Metal Stocks in Society report, the global per capita stock of aluminium in use in society (i.e. in cars, buildings, electronics etc.) is 80 kg (180 lb). Much of this is in more-developed countries (350–500 kg (770–1,100 lb) per capita) rather than less-developed countries (35 kg (77 lb) per capita). Knowing the per capita stocks and their approximate lifespans is important for planning recycling.

Recovery of the metal via recycling has become an important use of the aluminium industry. Recycling was a low-profile activity until the late 1960s, when the growing use of aluminium beverage cans brought it to the public awareness.

Recycling involves melting the scrap, a process that requires only 5% of the energy used to producealuminium from ore, though a significant part (up to 15% of the input material) is lost as dross (ash-like oxide). An aluminium stack melter produces significantly less dross, with values reported below 1%.The dross can undergo a further process to extract aluminium.

In Europe aluminium experiences high rates of recycling, ranging from 42% of beverage cans, 85% of

construction materials and 95% of transport vehicles.Recycled aluminium is known as secondary aluminium, but maintains the same physical properties as primary aluminium. Secondary aluminium is produced in a wide range of formats and is employed in 80% of alloy injections. Another important use is for extrusion.

White dross from primary aluminium production and from secondary recycling operations still contains useful quantities of aluminium that can be extracted industrially. The process produces aluminium billets, together with a highly complex waste material. This waste is difficult to manage. It reacts with water, releasing a mixture of gases (including, among others, hydrogen, acetylene, and ammonia), which spontaneously ignites on contact with air;contact with damp air results in the release of copious quantities of ammonia

gas. Despite these difficulties, the waste has found use as a filler in asphalt and concrete.

5.FAQ:

1)what is aluminum?

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Q: 2.50 grams of aluminum foil2.8 centimeters1.8 centimetersWhat is the thickness of the aluminum foil? help please! im confused. :((
First, you need to find the density of aluminum. It happens to be 2.7g/cm^3. Use your known mass along with the density to find the volume: 2.50 g / 2.7 g/cm^3 = 0.9259 cm^3 Then, divide by the two known dimensions to find the third: 0.9259 cm^3 / 2.8 cm = 0.3307 cm^2 0.3307 cm^2 / 1.8 cm = 0.1837 cm or 0.018 mm.
Q: When i cook my ribs, is the best way to wrap them in foil and put them in the oven? or put them in an aluminum pan?
It is probably something that began as a way to decorate a party atmosphere which was then eaten near the end of the partyIt caught on and now the majority are just for decorI imagine they do get quite hard after a few hours thoughWhen in doubt wait and see what others do around youIf your friend would have seen others eating the gingerbread house then it would be fineIf she did not see anyone else doing so then she should have taken the hint and let it aloneIf you really want to eat it but are not sure then you should ask your host/hostess and see what they sayIf they look at you funny you can laugh and tell them about how you love the taste of them or whatever.
Q: A sample of metal shavings with a mass of 0.0250 g contains a mixture ofaluminum and magnesium, though it is not known how much of each metal is present. To determine the composition of the mixture, the metal sample is reacted completelywith hydrochloric acidThe hydrogen gas produced is collected over water on a daywhen the temperature is 23.0 oC and the atmospheric pressure is 755.0 TorrAfter thereaction, the water level in the collection tube was 25.5 cm higher than the water level inthe beakerThe volume of gas collected under these conditions was measured at 30.48mL.aIs the pressure of the gas inside the collection tube higher than or lower than theatmospheric pressure? ExplainWhat is the pressure of the gas inside the gascollection tube?bWhat is the partial pressure of just the hydrogen gas?cHow many total moles of hydrogen gas are produced?dDetermine the mass of each metal present in the original sample.
I would think it is because of insolationBut I don't knowTin probably isn't as valuable, and isn't worth while to recycleWhile aluminum is.
Q: is it possible to roll marijuana with looseleaf paper? and if so, is it safe?
You're planning on smoking and wondering if different papers to burn are marginally safer to inhale than others? If you wanted you could also roll a joint with aluminum foil but that would give you alzheimers.
Q: I am looking for a more descriptive answer than just that Aluminum quot;wantsquot; to be isoelectronic to Neon.
I really wish I could help you, but I am 13 myself and don't understand this! hahaI would just ask your dad is he could explain it for you, but he may be slitely hurt when he finds out you are re-doing it! lol Just tell him you thought it sounded to profecianal and you want other kids to understand it! I hope this helps! Good Luck and God Bless!

Q: A capacitor can be made from two sheets of aluminum foil separated by a sheet of waxed paperIf the sheets of aluminum are 0.36 m by 0.37 m and the waxed paper, of slightly larger dimensions, is of thickness 0.030 mm and dielectric constant κ 2.5, what is the capacitance of this capacitor? What is the answer? Please help.
hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbafaculty.wwu.edu/vawter/PhysicsNetIt's so easy you should have been able to do this with little effortYou do need to try before you just look for answersYour answer should be between .09 microfarad and .90 microfarad just as a check for your work.
Q: I'm guessing I would need to cover the heating elements with aluminum foil before shaking and spraying the Easy Off and later wiping it off with paper towels.
