- Q:light falls on these dyes..?
- Ultraviolet light photons have more energy than visible light photons. A molecule can absorb a UV photon and jump multiple steps upward in energy, then come down in individual steps. Those individual steps are smaller in energy than the original UV frequency and so they might be visible. Now, how do infrared photons compare to visible photons?

- FAR 91.209 states that position lights (nav lights) must be used from sunset to sunrise. It also states that if anticollision lights (strobe and/or beacon) are installed, they must be turned on at all times when operating the airplane unless it is safer to operate without them, such as near other airplanes during ground operations or while flying through clouds. Advisory Circulars AC 91-73A and AC 120-74A have recommendations, but they aren't rules. The recommendations are to use the rotating beacon whenever the engine is running. Turn on nav and strobe lights prior to starting the taxi. Use taxi lights while moving, and turn them off when stopped. Turn on all available lights when crossing a runway. Turn on all lights except for landing lights when cleared onto the runway (position and hold). Turn on landing lights when cleared for takeoff. The AC does not specify when to turn off the landing light after takeoff or when to turn it on before landing. Common sense says keep them on when in high traffic areas. In jets, we normally keep the landing lights or recog lights on whenever we are below 18,000 feet. Obviously, this doesn't apply to small propeller planes. When I was instructing in Cessnas, I would keep the landing lights on within 10 miles of an airport when entering or leaving the traffic pattern and while in maneuvering flight when I wanted to be more visible.

- Hey Jessica. Goldfish do need light. It varies on how much they need. Don't turn on the light, keep that off to save power. Place to tank or bowl near a window to let some light on it. But be careful if it's really hot where you are, you don't want to heat the water up. If a goldfish is in darkness for more than 24 hours they turn white. Also, a goldfish only have the memory of 10 seconds. :) few facts lol.
- Q:It seems like a stupid question at first, but I am generally curious about this. Light has energy, and i was informed that all energy holds mass. Now, considering that all energy holds mass, that must mean that light has a weight however infinitesimal. Travelling to the speed of light requires more and more energy as you grow closer and closer to the speed itself. At one point it requires infinite, or nearly infinite amount of energy to travel the speed of light, so potentially; anything with mass would need an infinite amount of energy to travel at or near that speed. It is obviously all speculation, and i am probably missing something very obvious, but it made for a very interesting conversation with my father and I am generally curious. So tell me; can light travel the speed of light?
- Firstly, light has no mass,so your assumption was wrong. Secondly, light 'always' travels at the speed of light, because the speed of light is defined by how fast light travels, however fast that may be.

- When the battery light is on, the battery should be charged or replaced, if it cannot be charged. If it happens AGAIN, it could be the alternator. The battery could be faulty. But, the break light being on as well, could be a faulty cable running to the battery. Or, it could be the battery and the hand break which is suppose to be adjusted.

- You have a couple things mixed up. The idiom to see the light means to come into understanding. It is used in a general sense as well as in a religious sense. When some people say this, they mean that they have had an epiphany--they were blind (by ignorance) but now they say. Additionally, scripture calls Jesus the light, so they also incorporate the idea of seeing Jesus as part of the experience. In near death experiences, some people have reported seeing a white light; some report the existence of a silver cord; and others have very frightening troublesome experiences. As well, near death experiences vary across cultures. So basically, I think you that these are two different lights that you are speaking of.

- Our nav lights go on when we start the apu. The rotating beacon comes on when we start engines. The strobes, landing lights and taxilights go on for every takeoff prior to entering the active runway. The taxilights go off when the gear comes up. The landing lights come off at ten thousand feet. The whole process is reversed on arrival. Day or night.
