Q: What materials are solar panels made of?
Solar panels are typically made of photovoltaic (PV) cells, which are primarily composed of silicon, along with other materials such as metal frames, glass, and encapsulation materials.
Q: my dad met a guy representive for a solar panel company at a swapmeet Scam?
Hard to say. Solar panels are becoming more common these days. May want to ask if the vendor is licensed and bonded contractor (if he's doing installation as well as panel sales). Find out the name of the equipment that this guy is selling (panels and other hardware) and do a search. For that matter, get the guys name and do a search on it to see he pops up elsewhere.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a sloped roof?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a sloped roof. In fact, sloped roofs are a common choice for solar panel installations as they offer an optimal angle for capturing sunlight. However, it is important to consider the pitch and orientation of the roof to ensure maximum efficiency and proper installation.
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering electric fences?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power electric fences. By harnessing the sun's energy, solar panels can generate electricity that can be stored in batteries and used to power electric fence systems. This renewable energy source offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution for powering electric fences in remote areas or locations without access to traditional power sources.
Q: How much energy can a solar panel produce?
The amount of energy a solar panel can produce depends on several factors, including its size, efficiency, and location. On average, a residential solar panel system can generate anywhere from 10 to 20 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per square meter per day. However, this can vary significantly based on sunlight availability, panel orientation, and weather conditions.
Q: I am in the market for buying a home. There is one for salke that actually has solar panels on top. How are they used? Do you need to pay for gas and electric still. Does it really light up the house and keep it warm. WHat about the AC keeping hte house cool in the summer does it work for that too? Please explain in solar for dummy terms. I haveno clue about solar panels other thatn the fact that it needs sunlight to run.
No standard home can operate on solar panels alone unless there is about an acre or more of them. Plus, they require lots of batteries and complicated switching devices. And, they are very expensive, so rarely pay back their up front cost. Right now, more of a gimmick than a practical solution to power needs in the home. The house you're looking at may use it to power emergency lighting in case the grid went down. Or maybe a small fan to exhaust heat out of the attic. Who knows. Just have to ask.
Q: I'm doing a project for school where I will buy a solar panel and utilize/improve the power output of the panel. I want the panel to have an improved amount of energy output compared to the original. My budget for the solar panel itself is ~$00. Anything else that will be needed is covered. Also, I will be comparing the power by lighting a light bulb and checking to see the output energy of the panel.Where or how should I approach this project? What are the parts of the solar panel that I will need to buy? What factors could I change/improve to improve the overall energy output? What are the things (other than the panel) that I will need to buy?How can I attach a light bulb to the solar panel?
The okorder to find the info there.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on golf courses or recreational facilities?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on golf courses or recreational facilities. These places often have large open spaces and ample sunlight, making them suitable for solar panel installation. Additionally, this can help these facilities reduce their energy costs and contribute to a more sustainable and eco-friendly operation.
Q: I don't see much solar panels on people's houses where I live. I got a long time to go before doing so but I was planning on buying a few solar panels when I retire in the far future. In your opinion, is such an investment worth it? Would you buy them? I realize they are very expensive hence why I said when I retire. Thanks for your opinion
The payback is usually between about 5 and 5 years depending on how expensive electricity is in your area, the rebates available, and where you live (is it sunny most of the time?) Most people that get them don't do it for the investment - they do it to be energy responsible - but it's not a bad way to do both if you have the money to put into it. I personally just pay for the green energy option from my electricity provider. So I am buying power from solar and wind farms, and it cost about 0% more per month. I don't get the benefit of free power, but it comes with a smaller price tag initially, and I think when we all invest in these technologies, the price will improve over time, so energy costs will be lower in the future.
Q: Can you connect a solar panel to speakers that use a wall outlet plug, by cutting the plug off and connect copper wire between the solar panel and cord?Confusing i know. I'm trying to connect a solar panel to speakers for a science project.
Solar panels produce direct current, the wall plug is alternating. You cannot without an inverter. However, electrical devices smooth out this alternating current using those big power adapters and such. If you find how much voltage your speaker requires you should be able to power the amplifier directly with the solar panel, and have the input from the normal source..
