- Q: How do solar panels affect the local job market?
- Solar panels can have a positive impact on the local job market by creating new employment opportunities. The installation, maintenance, and manufacturing of solar panels require skilled and unskilled workers, thus stimulating job growth in the renewable energy sector. Additionally, the shift towards solar energy can lead to the creation of new businesses and industries, further contributing to job creation and economic development in the local community.
- Q: I have a 2 volt deep cylce Everstart battery with 845 cranking amps, and a Grape Solar GS-S-250-Fab5 250-Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel . I use them to power a 48Flat screen TV, a Roku, my 65 watt consuming MacBook Pro, and a 65 watt Fan.I know from previous experience that just the battery, an inverter, and the fan, that the fan will blow for 0 hours straight.Should I really be concerned with a Charge Controller?
- Should I really be concerned with a Charge Controller? Yes. The main purpose of the charge controller is to protect the battery from over charging. Over charging reduces battery life. And spending extra money for a MPPT type controller will get more more useable power out of your solar panel. Would another battery of the same magnitude be helpful in preventing an accident? How much storage capacity does your current battery have (measured in kWH)? A ~$20 Kill-a-Watt meter would take a lot of uncertainty out of how much power you actually use. Even deep cycle batteries suffer reduced battery life from deep discharges. The battery sounds too small for the loads you describe so I would think you would want more. ---------------------------------------... After reading the other answer In a nutshell, with your small 2 volt starting battery, 24 volt panel and a mix of unknown loads, (which is correct), I thought I would elaborate. I had not considered the possibility that you bought a 24 volt panel for your 2 volt battery. Hooking the panel you bought directly to the current battery is a horrible idea. I you were lucky it would just cook the battery in a short period of time. You basically bought the wrong type of panel for a 2 volt system. I assume that there are no controllers on the the market for this situation. If that's the case, I don't know of any good way match the 24v panel to the 2 volt battery.
- Q: Are there government incentives for installing solar panels?
- Yes, there are indeed government incentives available for installing solar panels. These incentives can vary depending on the country and region, but they often include tax credits, grants, rebates, and net metering programs. These incentives are designed to encourage the adoption of renewable energy sources like solar power, making it more affordable and attractive for individuals and businesses to invest in solar panel installations.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed in areas with frequent power outages?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed in areas with frequent power outages. In fact, solar panels can be a great solution to mitigate the impact of power outages as they generate electricity from sunlight, reducing reliance on the grid. Additionally, with the integration of energy storage systems, solar panels can store excess energy produced during the day and provide backup power during outages, ensuring a continuous power supply.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on windows or glass surfaces?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on windows or glass surfaces. These are known as building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and are designed to replace traditional building materials such as windows, skylights, or facades with solar panels. BIPV systems are a great way to generate electricity while maximizing space and utilizing underutilized surfaces.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on historical buildings?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on historical buildings. However, it requires careful planning and consideration to ensure that the installation does not compromise the building's historical integrity. Various techniques can be employed, such as integrating solar panels into existing structures, using non-penetrating mounting systems, or placing panels in less visible areas. Preservation guidelines and local regulations should be followed to maintain the historical significance while promoting sustainable energy.
- Q: I need a list of worldwide solar panel manufactures from china, US, Spain, Germany, Japan etc...Can any one direct ne to such place?I rather it will also contain comparison of parameters like efficiacy, quality etc and to be divedied by country of manufacturing.Thank you
- Actually Ofir, it is much easier and less expensive than you might believe. What you need is a magazine, like, Solar Today. There is only one that I am familiar with that gets into the nuts and bolts of solar panel manufacturers, installation, and other types of renewable energy. It's called, Home Power Magazine. We have a home that has been powered by the wind and sun for the last 0 years or so, and most of our initial information came from Home Power, and afterward, from many of the sources that they have in their articles. Every few issures, they take an item connected to renewable energy, such as an inverter, wind turbine, water turbine, or solar panel, and list all the different models that are available. They are broken down by manufacturer, and include specifications like power output, range of voltages, efficiency, materials, and even where they are manufactured. If you subscribe online for one year, the cost is around $25 USD, you will have access to all the previous issues that are archived on their website. You can use their search engine to locate an article listing all the solar panels, they did one a year or so ago with all the information you are looking for. Despite what you might be hearing, solar power usage is growing at an incredible rate. In the US alone, there are over 00,000 homes and businesses operating some level of solar power right now, that's good news. As far as different countries using different requirements, most all of the manufacturers today are selling their products to most countries worldwide, they are designed to meet requirements for almost anyplace you might use them. Check the magazine out today, you might learn more than you were originally looking for. I will include their link below, and some other good sources for information. You can google any one of them to find their website. Good luck, and take care...Rudydoo
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a deck or patio?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a deck or patio. In fact, these areas can often be ideal locations for solar panel installations as they are typically unobstructed by shade and have ample sunlight exposure. Additionally, installing solar panels on a deck or patio can help maximize the use of available space and may provide an aesthetically pleasing solution for homeowners. However, it is important to consult with a professional to determine the feasibility and structural integrity of the deck or patio for supporting the weight of the panels.
- Q: a fiber optic network could distribute solar energy from warm states to the rest of the country. Using a Federally created program, the energy would be used through a trust program to benefit all of our citizens equally. It would create thousands of jobs and help us with our dependence on foriegn oil supplies. This is no different than work programs created by the Feds during the 930's depression era.
- As a matter of fact these types of facilities are being built today. People are already hard at work on it. Yes solar is more expensive that conventional electricity sources, but only at first. A solar power plant has no fuel costs and so although it costs a lot more to build at first over its life time it can actually cost a lot less. That doesn't even count the costs of byproducts from conventional power plants. Most people are not aware that particulate pollution kills between 00,000 and 200,000 people in the United States every year. The majority source of particulate pollution is electrical power production, but our electrical bill does not include the costs of those deaths. If the electric utilities had to pay their fair share of those medical costs electricity produced by fossil fuels would look a lot less attractive. Some people think solar panels take more energy to build than they every collect from the sun but that is not true. A solar panel generates the energy it takes to make it in between and 2 years and after that the power it generates is basically free. Solar panels are expected to last between 30 and 50 years, so that is a lot of free power. By the way, I installed solar panels on my house. They cost me about 6000 dollars (after rebates and tax deductions) and saves me about 000 dollars every year from my electrical bill. I have a 5 bedroom house and a family of three and our electrical bill averages just $35/month. That is in California with some of the highest electrical rates in the country. So I can say that solar works. There are dozens of companies working very hard to make solar power more affordable and they are being successful. The solar industry is about 7X larger in 2006 than it was in 2000. It is one of the fastest growing industries and has sustained growth of 40% per year for the last five years. Solar power will become the largest industry on Earth, but it will take some time. It is a very encouraging development.
