- Q:55KW how large is the water pump wiring?
- Transmission within 100 meters, 70 square millimeter aluminum cable, or 50 square millimeter copper cable. If you exceed 100 meters, you'll have to add a number to the cable.
- Q:i have a water leak near the water pump in my 1990 cadillac deville i replaced the water pump but it was remanufactured and a pipe on the back of the water pump can it be a heater core or should i buy a brand new one p.s. water leaks after it passes the radiator
- The 1990 cadillac water pumps were big old things. They took up most of the front of the engine and GM left very little room to get to the bolts. One problem you could be having is bolt placement. Not only were there about 15 bolts holding the pump on, but they were also all different lengths. If you do not put them back in the right order you can end up cracking the new water pump housing, or leaving a gap between the pump and the bolt head where water can leak out of. Check that.

- Yes you can in fact it is better to use a larger hp pump. A 3/4 hp pump can recover the water with less of a degree of workload there by conserving the energy it takes for a smaller pump to do the same required work

- don,t drive it or it will overheat. it could be the by-pass hose leaking instead of the pump.
- Q:Question for you. I'm looking for a 12v (no AC converter, please) water pump to drive up to 4 water misters. Needs to run off the battery, without an AC converter (already found those). The pump will pull from a water reservoir and provide cooling relief on hot days through the misters. BTW... the pump should be reasonably small, limited to a few pounds...If you have any ideas, please advise.Thanks again,Robert
- The ac converters are 12V rectifiers so just use the pump (wire to a battery) without the converter or check with motor home repair place
- Q:1995 Ford Contour GL, 2.0L 4Cyl- three water pump failures. I bought the car in 2000 [49,000 miles] and in 2003 [116,000 miles] a leak from the weep hole area was repaired by replacing the pump. In October, 2005 [164,000] another leak from the same place was again repaired by replacing the pump. Just over two years later now, 196,000 miles, and today it's leaking from the same area. Any idea why this would happen? Each time I've replaced the pump, I've not been able to see any damage to it. People talk about impellers breaking, but they've always seemed intact. Maybe it isn't a pump failure so much as a leak for some other reason? Since purchase, the car has run what appears to be hot, in that the temperature gauge, when at operating temps, is only a tick or two from overheating, but since it's in the normal range, I've always assumed it's just a faulty thermostat. It's never overheated except for when the leak has sprung up.Any thoughts? :)
- 196,000 miles three water pumps is not that bad. Depends where you purchased them. If you opted for cheapies like auto zone then you get what you pay for. Since you are having this problem over and over again, I would agree with the ford technician, purchase one from Ford and see how that does.
- Q:I drive a 99vw jetta and the coolant was leaking from it i took it to a repair shop they said the water pump was bad and that the seals on the water pump where bad that was defiantly where the coolant was leaking from. I replaced the water pump and drove my car this weekend no troubles, then this afternoon my coolant light came on and i put coolant in my car and it just started trickling out i called the repair shop they said it may just be a loose hose or clamp, is this true or am i looking at something worse than the water pump that has to be replaced?? or would that issue have already came up when they where looking for where the leak was coming from before it was repaired? please help
- The pump may have indeed been bad. Did the shop put on the new pump or did you do it yourself? If it was done by the shop, take it back and make them fix it correctly. You have already paid them for the work. If you did it yourself, it should be fairly easy to spot where the leak is coming from. It is also rare but possible that the pump you put on was bad out of the box from the parts store. Not likely...but slim possibility. Hopefully it is just a loose clamp or hose.

- Q:I intend to construct a DIY base camp shower and dish sprayer. I have been searching for an appropriate submersible water pump to plug into a small inverter to a 12-volt cigarette lighter power pack (car jump starter). I need to attach adapters for a hose with a shower head and think that approximately 1+ gallons of draw per minute is practical. I would possibly use a five to six-gallon reservoir, heating water on a car-camping propane stove. My biggest concern is amp draw. Maxi-Jet NJ-400 Submersible Utility Pump, $21, is a powerful aquarium pump with an adjustable flow up to 1.8 gpm.

- Q:Ok, I took my '93 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L in to get the serpentine belt replaced, as the old one had snapped. They told me that the water pump had locked up and that's what made the belt break. The thing is, I had to get the radiator and water pump replaced this past summer and I am wondering what might've made my water pump lock up since it is new. The Jeep has a lot of miles and I'm slowly having to fix a lot of things, so I'm trying to be sure that I don't fix the pump just to find another problem. Also, the repair place told me the water pump looks brand new, so I know that it was definitely replaced, but should I contact the place the fixed the pump and radiator and see if there's some sort of warranty on the pump?
- If the pump is 6 months old it should be under warranty. The labor to replace it will probably cost you though. If you are having the work done at the same place that did the previous work, they may do that part of the labor free, just ask. Additional: More likely the pump failed first and broke the belt. If your engine has an automatic belt tensioner, you cannot over tighten the belt. Have the tensioner checked and replaced if needed as well. The labor should be minimal as they already have the belt off to do the additional work. It could be the alternator is used as the tensioner in which case, there is no automatic tensioner. Have any idler pulleys checked out while the work is being done. Ask your mechanic.
