Q:why does a performance exhaust system increases power?
new limitations to reduce emissions(which DO NOT ACTUALLY AFFECT GLOBAL WARMING OR THE OZONE LAYER) make thier mufflers small and restrict air make them soft. a performance exhaust takes out all those limitations and makes the car exhale more easily so it can inhale more air faster/better. plus if done properly it makes the car sound good.
Q:Does installing a aftermarket exhaust system void the warranty on my car?
I worked at a dealership. It will not void your warranty. The only way any add on part will void your warranty is if they can relate to problem back to the aftermarket part. For example, if you put on the aftermarket exhaust system and your horn stopped working, they would replace the horn because it had nothing to do with the exhaust. In my opinion, I would not worry about the exhaust effecting your warranty. As mentioned above, the only thing it will void is the exhaust system warranty.
Q:I know this question has been asked a billion times all over the internet. But different vehicles/engines sound different/better. I have a chrysler 318 engine in my dakota. I have been leaning towards flowmaster since my friend has flowmaster on his 87 camaro iroc z and it has that loud deep tone that i like. But do any of you have different opinions?
I had a cherry bomb on mine with no cat. sounded pretty good for a v6. lol
Q:I have a 1994 Camry LE V6 and its really loud cause there's a hole somewhere in my exhaust system, the noise is in the front end and i was wondering what it would cost to get it fix. Just want a rough idea of the cost.
you dont really need to add anything to the fuel to increase lubricity.the cummins fuel pump uses the engine oil to help keep it lubricated. the military uses cummins engines in several of their vehicles, and these trucks are running on jp-8, a cheap grade of jet fuel which has virtually nil lubricity
Q:I just bought a 1996 Mustang with a 3.8L v6. I want to put a exhaust system that is loud and deep. I was thinking about the Flowmaster 40 series with off-road X-pipes. But not really sure. Does anyone have anymore suggestions?
Just go to Youtube. Type MUSTANG V6 EXHAUST in the search box and listen to the millions of V6 Mustangs with exhaust work in the videos. Chose what sounds best to you. Keep in mind it's still just a V6 no matter how loud you make it and they're not fast. GT/Cobra owners (like myself and many others) can't stand V6ers doing exhaust mods because they make us look bad. The average car guy will say Look at that V6 Mustang. The owner must wish he had a V8 instead. Sounds like a riceburner.
Q:I purchased my husband a Flowmaster Force II Exhaust thinking it was the right fit for his truck He has an 07 Ford F150. I failed to notice that with the flowmaster i currently bought it was for 09 and up. My question to all you auto men/women Is there a way to modify this exhaust system without having to ship it back and Re order a different type? Is it an easy fix to fix onto the truck? HELPPPPP
the kit you bought has all the pipes prebent to fit the specific vehicle, if you take the truck to an exhaust shop they can bend new pipes to make the kit fit however that will cost more than sending the kit back and getting the correct one. so no there is no easy way to make it work
Q:I want a duel exhaust system on my mx3. it is a four cylinder engine, with a full stock system on it. I want to know if I can have a dual exhaust system put on, and if so what would be the pros and cons of doing such?
Have you ever looked at your car from underneath? It would be a good idea to become familiar with where things are under your car. I'm not sure about a MX-3, but my FC3S RX-7 has the appropriate hangar locations for dual exhaust. I believe that you should get your car up on 4 jack stands (not just a jack, that would be VERY stupid and dangerous). Don't try to take the easy way out and use ramps either. It only takes a nudge to make a car roll back down them. Once it is safely supported by 4 jack stands in the proper locations (consult your owners manual or a good MX-3 Forum for details), slide under the back and follow where the exhaust pipe goes (a cold engine is a good idea for this, to prevent burns). Then look at the opposite side for a mirror-image of what the exhaust pipe is attached to. If it is a mirror image like it is on my RX-7, it should be pretty easy to do duals. The plus to dual exhaust is less backpressure if done correctly, but it means adding some weight to the car. Usually, it's less than 30lbs more, depending on where the Y-pipe will be and how the exhaust system is routed in general. I'd still recommend asking your fellow MX-3 owners though, since they would know more than I would about your specific application.
Q:Looking for a full exhaust system for my 2010 Lancer ES. Ive found only one Magnaflow that will work, but it has mixed reviews and I was wondering if anyone else knows of another good, fairly loud exhaust for the ES model. Not the ralliart or evo or GTS. if you know of or recommend a certain intake as well, please let me know. it would be much appreciated. :) thanks!
Ceramic breaks very easily (just like a plate or glass). Metal is FAR more durable.
Q:looking for a exhaust system for a lancer GTS Mitsubishi that is not too loud any one has an idea or any sugestions?
Clean the end of the pipe with 'wet and dry' paper or emery cloth. Clean it by going around the pipe, not longitudinally. (that's important). Wipe the cleaned area with a smearing of flux. Apply heat just before the cleaned area, NOT on it otherwise you will quickly cause oxidation. Your torch should be about 60% of it's max. Too hot and the copper will oxidise, too cool and it won't be hot enough to melt the solder. Ensure that you are using the correct melting point solder for the job. Hold the solder in one hand and apply it to the tube, playing the flame on and off and round the pipe. You need to get the heat to just the point where the solder begins to run. As soon as the solder runs, wipe it round with a mole skin cloth. (I use a leather garden glove, it works a treat, I can wipe it round and clean without getting burned leaving the end just silvered. When you have mastered that then you can move on to joining the pipes together with an end solder socket or, if you prefer, a yorkshire soldered socket. If the copper pipe changes color to a light reddish brown then you have applied too much heat. Likewise if the solder runs off like water. You need to get the heat to where the solder is between running off and being plastic.
