- A cat-back is just an exhaust system that leads into the cat, a dual system never joins together. But I think you're referring to a Y-pipe vs a X-pipe vs a H-pipe. A Y-pipe has both headers leading into a single cat-converter and then leading out through a single muffler. This system relieves back pressure in the mufflers, but has stock limitations in the cat. An X-pipe has each header leading into a separate cat-converter then the pipes join together to equalize pressure, before separating again into two separate mufflers (most effective system). Or the H-pipe (loudest) has two separate pipes coming off each header with it's own cat and muffler. If you want to increase sound go with the H-pipe and cut out the mufflers to make a straight pipe.

- Custom exhaust systems don't come cheap. It's a foolish thing to do anyway. Chances are that it will never pass an exhaust emissions test ever again, and it draws attention to yourself. Do you want the police to notice you a lot? Plan on spending over $1000. easily. Here's a cheaper thing to do. cut away the original muffler, and replace it with a straight-through glass pack muffler. It sounds tough, and it might even be legal where you are.

- If you have a tubeless tire with a hole you can remove the tire from the rim, patch it from the inside, and remount. There are sites on the WWW to tell you how to change your own tires, it is not difficult.

- Well, if caught, could cost you and/or the shop doing the work $10,000 since it's a federal offense and that is the maximum punishment for tampering with emissions systems. You can probably buy a whole replacement pipe set (with muffler) from somewhere like summit or jegs, made for your truck, which may save considerable expense and hassle since you can do the work yourself. If that is a flat catalytic converter (as opposed to the newer round ones) then yes, they are pieces of junk, but to keep from smelling exhaust all the time, I'd certainly recommend investing in a $70 replacement one of the high flow varieties. Especially if you are going to have to be tested again in the somewhat near future anyway.

- RIt dye. Hot water. Find in the detergent section at most grocery and walmart stores. I would recommend just buying red fabric. Its much easier and the if you dye, it will rub on to other fabrics like a transfer and you will not want to wash it with anything. It will turn everything pink. Red is a hard color to get bright. You should try to save yourself the headache. Plus your fabric should be all cotton to even take the dye.
