- Q:ok so i was sitting in my leather chair and a flea hopped onto my paper i was workin on then jumpe into the edg of the chair s a few mins i scratche my leg and he jumped next to me again, i freaked out thinking what if theyre living in my chair? i HATE fleas. i have a big room w/ alot of stuff on the floor, do you think this is why they might be here? bci havent vacumed in a while? what do i do about the chair? is ther some kind of sticky pad i could lay on there that might attract them? think theyre attracted to heat? is that right?
- They won't just be living on the chair but in the carpet as well. You need to clear the floor and vacuum. I had trouble with fleas recently and had to spray the carpets, I used a natural based insect spray. If all else fails you may need to flea bomb the place. Get any pets treated as well. Supposedly fleas are attracted to light, if you put a lamp over a container of water they are supposed to jump towards the light and end up falling into the water. This isn't just a one off treatment, they lay eggs that are just waiting to hatch. Even if the room is locked up and not used for a while the flea eggs are supposed to survive until they sense movement.

I've had some great success with finding rope tows and Poma lifts, however chairlifts are hard to find really with chairs still attached! Any information would be great. Just a hint. I am NOT looking to take these. I have found old Poma Bars, T-Bars, and old rope tow handles and always abide by the rules of the area. I have taken ONE T-bar, and asked the mountains owner for permission to take it. I don't know how I could fit a chair in my little Ford Taurus either! - Q:The nitrogen gas in present in the chair cylinder. However what keep chair at mid position, between highest and lowest position? Is there a valve that prevents chair from coming up any further from mid position. Also if it at the lowest point that then gas is fully compressed. what prevents it from pushing upward as I'm seating. Thanks in advance
- The way a gas spring chair works is that the piston inside the cylinder contains a valve, which lets nitrogen gas pass from one side of the cylinder to the other (see the link below for a diagram). The compression is created because of the volume of the piston rod being introduced into the cylinder, but at all times the pressure on either side of the piston is the same. The lever on the underside of the seat opens the valve in the piston. If you sit on the chair but don't pull the lever, the gas in the piston cannot flow through the valve, so piston remains extended. When you pull that lever, the valve opens and allows gas to flow across the piston, so the piston is able to move down and the gas is compressed. When the chair is at half-height and the lever is released, the valve closes, preventing the piston from moving either way, because the pressures are equal on either side (the pressure in the cylinder is so great that the extra pressure added by sitting on the chair is tiny by comparison). When the chair is at its lowest, the compressed gas is all above the piston, holding it down. It's only when the valve is opened that gas can flow to the other side to raise it.
