Q:hey i have a problem my car wont start. i just change the the wiring in the engine the harness but the car i got it off of is a automatic and my car is a 5 speed. can that be the problem? can a automatic wiring harness work for a 5 speed car?: Make sure that the clutch safety lockout is properly in the circuit.

Q:i recently totaled my last car, a 1999 ford escort se sport. i had a nice custom sound system in my escort, which i pulled out after the wreck i'm buying a 1996 ford probe gt. its a sweet ride 24v 2.5 litre v6. custom six speed racing transmission but anyways. i want to put my system in. i have a kenwood head unit and i was ust wondering if anyone knows whether the stereo wiring harness is the same in an escort as it is in a probe. i know that the probe was actually designed and built by mazda, so idk if the electrical is american or japanese: The wiring harness is not the same. The one you need is Metra Part #70-1770. The install kit isn't the same either. Metra Part #99-5510. Total cost between the two on OKorder is $21.

Q:Could this be the ignition switch or switch wiring harness problem?: As the switch wiring is pretty much stationary all of the time I would assume it is the switch that has failed. That said, if your truck is parked somewhere that mice have access to it, you could have had some chewing of the wires and an intermittent short somewhere in the harness. Electrical problems are always a giant pain to diagnose, good luck!

Q:I have a 1994 toyota pickup 2wd. Just recently it had a wire burn up on the wiring harness running to the alternator from the main harness. It burned the ground clean off the alternator the first time then I fixed the wiring and the second time it did it again but on the ground running to the fender but it was the same wire but on the other side of the plug in. When going down the road, the lights and radio would start skipping then the truck motor would start skipping also then just shut completely off. Thats where i found that wire burnt up. I can't fix it after two attempts. Please help: OUCH! you may have a wire somewhere with the installation cracked or coming off touching ground. If a cluster of wires in a cable burn up, it could be costly replacing the whole thing, hope that's not the case?

Q:hey i might have a 4.0l ranger engine to drop in to my 3.0l ranger. mines a 99 with a 5spd manuel. and what i want to know is, can i bolt up a 4.0l with the 3.0l wirring harness? and the new motor is from a 97 ranger. thanks guys: No. Even if the wiring harness was the same, which isn't too likely, your ECM is calibrated for the 3.0L.

Q:I have a 09 subaru forester nonnav standard audio package,looking to replace the stereo with an after market one. I bought the harness and I was curious if im better off sudering the wires or just splicing them together and using electrical tape? Or crimping them. Any suggestions?: Maybe do the best thing for later if you want to sell the car, so its easy to install the standard deck back? Just a tip :)

Q:I am wanting to buy this d16y8 vtec motor and tranny from this guy for 350 dollars but he said he doesnt have the wiring harness. what is that and will it cost a lot?: A wiring harness is a bunch of wires that run out of a piece of equipment such as stereos, transmissions. steering columns etc. It typically has a plug on the end that plugs into another plug and makes the part work. Without it you have to splice wires from the transmission to the various places it needs to go. Such as but not limited to sensors and the computer.

Q:I tried to get an autozone wiring harness but is intended for a truck with a towing package( which my truck doesn't). I was wondering what is the easiest and cheapest way to get a trailer light hookup on my truck?: Take it to your local U-Haul trailer rental store. They usually have someone who can install hitches and do wiring for trailer lights.

Q:I have a Honda CB 350 K4 1971. I am rebuilding the entire bike. When i first got it, someone else already took some things off of the bike. All the wiring turns out to be one of them. Q:Basically over about a four month period the radio/cd player in my truck was going on and off. It would work sometimes randomly, but now it is completely dead. I changed all the fuses and that isn't where the issue is. I have the original radio and I don't really want to replace it. I feel like if the fault were in the radio itself, it would have simply gone dead and not worked. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or if anyone has any advice about what the cause could be? The truck itself is 17 years old, so it's a possibility that over time a wire came loose, or even for the radio to die. It came with a 5 cd changer that is in the cab, and I noticed at the very beginning before it starting cutting on and off that it would say that it couldn't read cd's. That was probably a few days prior, and then when the radio did actually work, the same problem persisted. What do you think the problem is?: I use a Multi-Tester (Volt-OHM-AMP) meter. I check each wire--for continuity. I also decide on the ground.(common ground).or a direct ground at the 12-volt battery./ I like to use a direct wire--from the 12-volt battery./with a in-line fuse/ I most times use the cigaretter/plug-in as my ground point./ Or I even run a ground wire back to the 12-volt battery./ The radio may have been running hot.and you placed wires at a terrible location./ (re-check the installation) If this is a automobile application--the 5 disk CD Player--will have Shock/detection/protection. Or.you may only be able to use store bought--CD's. NOT--ones you made on your computer. Try that. See if store bought CD's work better./ Most radio applications have fuses--that are very difficult to inspect--without a magnifying glass. I use 10-AMP for such things./
