Q:I need to connect a wire to my Sony stereo's wiring harness. The wire that i need to run comes out of the head unit, connects with the other wires to the stock wiring harness, but doesn't continue out of the other side of the connector. I thought this would be the best way to connect the wire. But how do I get it to stay put in the connector? Looks like it needs a little tiny female end, but I don't have one that small.
I'm guessing the wire goes to the ignition switch, so when you turn your car on the stereo comes on? Yeah, i would just go to radio shack and get whatever you need there. If you gonna do it, do it right the first time. The last thing you want is that wire to ground out somewhere and cause problems.
Q:i have a mazda mx5 (miata )1997. i got a new stereo but need a custom wiring harness so that it can properly hook up the the ISO cable.so my question is, how much do they cost, and where can i get one? :)
just go to your local car audio store or best buy. they should have it. They're only about 20 bucks
Q:I have a 2003 Harley Davidson soft tail (with a carburetor) that needs a new main wire harness. I recently purchased a harness for a 2000 model 'Deuce', and everything plugs in just like the old one except it (the Deuce) has a 8-pin connector going to the turn signal module instead of 12-pins (like the original). Any info anyone can give me regarding the differences in these harnesses would be helpful and greatly appreciated, however right now my biggest objective is to just get a spark to the spark plug so I can start the bike. Thanks in advance for any advice.
You have the wrong harness. The 2000's use a straight turn signal module. In 2001, HD integrated a factory security system into the bkes. When they did this, they integrated the security system into the turn signal module which is called a turn signal/security module (TSSM). You would see this in the wiring diagram if you had a FACTORY service manual.this is why you NEVER attempt any work on your own without a manual!!! A manual will pay for itself the first time it saves you from an experience like this. What was wrong with your original harness?.What's up with no spark, due to the harness?
Q:Depending on the year are they the sae lets same like 98 and up?
yes.
Q:I am trying to install an Aiwa CDC-X217 in-dash cd receiver in a 1994 Honda Accord. Does anyone know where i can buy the proper wire harness? I can't seem to find one specific for the accord. Also, i need the mounting sleeve that holds the cd player in place. I would greatly appriciate if someone has any direct links to what i'm looking for. Thanks.
Call a Car audio shop or best buy, they will tell you
Q:I have a 1987 toyota pickup and When I tried following the color-code diagrahm I found online I crossed two wires and had a major melt down. I took a few hours and seperated all the witres that were melted together, and now I don't have a cig lighter or center clock. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to hook my CD player up to the ignition system, unless someone knows something I don' (pretty likely in this field). If I can't do it that way, is there a way to wire it straight to something else that is always on when the truck is running and off when it is off, or should I run it straight from the battery? Also, what would be the proper way of doing that? Thanks for looking and hopefully you can give me advice, or direct me to someone who can.
take the red wire ( usually it,s the hot wire ) and run it to a hot source like the battery then run the black wire to the grounds somewhere. now just run the ground and hot wires from the right speaker to the radio wires and touch them until the right speaker plays and do the same for the left speaker.
Q:I am rebuilding an 1981 FLH. My question concerns the wiring harness. Coming off the starter relay there are four wires. Two are black ground wires, one is green going to the solonoid and the other is orange(pin 87) that is supposed to go up to a copper stud under the instrument panel. The previous owner just had this orange wire running straight over to the copper bar off the battery. The bike ran fine for years like this so I assume its ok. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me a little more about what the orange wire is for?
I also have an '81 FLH--- welcome to the elite club-- the orange wire is a power wire to the relay, mine is hooked to the power side of the main circuit breaker, same as the wire to the ignition switch. Also if you are re-wiring w/o diagram, make sure the power wire to the start button goes thru the neutral switch or the bike will be able to be started in gear---trust me thats a problem waiting to happen. Just found what I was looking for earlier--The relay has numbered contacts---No. 1 is the power wire--No. 2 goes to the solenoid--No. 3 goes to the start button--No. 4 goes to ground
Q:all of the wire harnesses ive bout do not line up with all of the oem radio harness wires
The 08 Malibu uses a LAN system. The headunit communicates with many other things in the car. You cannot just remove the factory radio and use a regular wire harness. You need a special interface to trick the car into thinking the factory radio is still installed. Metra makes them. It's probably part# LC-GMRC-LAN-03, but check with your local car audio shop. Fair warning, they're not cheap. Probably ~$125 retail. Additionally, do you have steering wheel controls that control the radio? If so, these will be lost when installing anything aftermarket unless you purchase another interface. The Metra ASWC-1 (another $100 retail). This will plug into the GMRC interface listed above and will likely program itself (see instructions). Most of the late model GM vehicles are like this. Sucks. I know.
Q:i bought a aftermarket wiring harness for my 2003 nissan xterra and a boss stereo and i know your suppose to connect all the wires with there matching wires on the harness and stereo, but i am confused on what to do with the ground wire, because both my wiring harness and the stereo have a solid black wire and both say ground (the wiring harness says chassis ground). do i connect those two wire, or do i ground them both separately to bare metal? i am confused and any help would be great
In a Nissan, you'll want to connect the black wire from the new head unit to bare metal. You don't have to do anything with the ground wire in the adapter harness (it probably lines up with an empty pin in the stock radio plug anyway).
Q:I have a 2006 subaru impreza. About a year ago, the headlight burnt out. I went to replace it and realized that it wasn't the headlight. It was the wiring harness/socket that had burnt up. So, I replaced it with a new harness. I used good waterproof connectors and all was well. This weekend, the light burnt out again. Once again, the bulb was fine. The harness was burnt up. Why is it doing this? Is there an easy way to fix it? I'm getting worried because I'm running our of slack wire to keep doing this.
Turns out it's a pretty common problem. Some companies have come out with replacement harnesses with ceramic connectors so they won't melt. Go to this link and scroll down to the area that talks about replacement headlight connectors
