- You can hose it down but the problem is that it will be sopping wet so it will take forever to dry. Also, professional rug cleaning people who use this method have a way of extracting the water out (vacuum table) so that the colors don't run from being wet too long. Since you don't have the material, I would suggest a carpet shampooer (injection/extraction) or if not, have a wet dry vac handy to suck up the maximum amount of water from the rug and be able to hang it over a bar in a very well ventilated area. You will have to turn it once every few hours. The biggest risk is that the colors run after X time being wet.

- Do you have a wet vac? I'm not sure what emulsion is but if it is latex (water based) To get all the paint out of the carpet you need to keep soaking it with water if latex and keep sopping it up. You need 2-3 buckets of water and keep doing this until you see almost no paint color in your dirty water. Suck up all the excess water with the wet vac and put a fan or 2 on it to dry. I would even recommend pulling up the carpet and vacuuming the pad if it is wall to wall. This will also help the air get at the pad and dry it faster. If the paint is dry you should just throw out the carpet.

Wall trimming tool, and ability to trim the correct amount of salvage in order to tuck, without scarring walls. If tack strip needs any replaced, the knowledge to place them at the correct distance from the wall to suit the type of carpet. Ability to hammer nails in the strip without hitting the walls. Strip can be as close as 1 /1/4 from the wall. Inexperienced installers have damaged walls. Problems can be encountered with concrete and must be solved properly. Padding will likely be replaced and adhered to the floor at a correct distance from tackstrip. This is not a job for amateurs. Carpet is too expensive today to screw it up. You could injure your back and knees.
