Q:How can the car headlamps be lit.: If the light bulb is halogen, it is recommended to install a xenon bulb, the evening will be a lot of light

Q:i wen to advanced auto parts today because the check engine light on my 2002 nissan sentra has been on for a while, they did a check and told me that i had an evap leak and that i would have to take it to a mechanic so that he can run smoke through it and find out where the leak is. how much does this usually cost (i mean for them to use their machine to find the leak and then to fix it): The evap system is just a hose/tube running from the top of the gas tank to a charcoal canister under the hood. It take the gasoline vapors that would normally escape out a vented gas cap and runs them thru the charcoal, which absorbs the gasoline. Later, when you start the engine, there's a vacuum line from the top of the charcoal canister to the engine, the engine sucks air thru the length of the canister, and all the nasty gas vapors get burned in the engine, there by saving the world for future generations. There is also, on some cars, a switch of some kind on the canister. Don't really know what it does, but bet you the computer knows, and that switch is probably what is triggering the error message. Now you know where to start looking - find out what the heck that switch does, why it does it, and report back .

Q:The headlights now shut off and on, off and on. The car is running ok, but the remote starter will no longer work. The installer was at ABC warehouse in Mount Pleasant Michigan and they talked me into buying a better remote starter b/c the cheapest one would not allow my doors to unlock while the starter was running? I paid 400 $ for this piece of junk. Any ideas one why my lights interior and exterior will turn on and off as they feel like it? Brake lights and turn signals too!: My best guess is it's from poor installation. Sounds like there's a short somewhere that's causing the light relay to shut off. The headlight relay cuts power when there's too much draw on the system, then when the relay cools down, the lights come back on. A continuous short will cause the light to go off and come back on on a steady basis, a temporary short will cause it only when there's a short, so it could do it at times, then stop for a while. This is generally caused by a positive wire to the headlights being grounded against metal somewhere. They likely either hooked up to a wrong wire, or pinched or pierced a wire when installing the system. Take it back to the installer and tell them what's going on, since it happened right after they installed the system, it's almost certainly their fault and their responsibility to fix it. Could be something with the system itself, too, but either way, it's their problem and they need to fix it.

Q:Does it control the cranking of the engine? or the of the ignition system? Nephew had put water in the fuel tank trying to fix problem removed line from fuel filter and turning key on and off pumping out the water.I removed fuel pump relay and jumped the pump for cont. use the key was turned on and off during this process and now it will not crank over.There is an anti theft light on the dash,it goes off after the key is turned on and the ecm scans: Ahh the joys of family. Yes, a lot of anti theft systems will lock out a number of things, fuel pump, coil, starter, and things like that. You can get a remote starter from your local auto store. This will directly supply power to your starter. Now if your key is turned on, then your coil should be energized and the engine should fire (or at least crank). If it doesn't start, pull one of your plug wires and put a spark plug in the end and ground the tip. Crank the engine and watch for a spark. This should help you narrow down the problem. Q:my ABS light stayes on also my 4x4 light keep trying to come on and i get a wrench light. it seems like my claipers are stuck i already changed them but the problem contuines. it like the truck won‘t pull off it just sit there no matter how much gas i give it.: The ABS modules are expensive. That being said you have more than one issue going on. The ABS light isn't too likely to be related to the inability to move the truck. Even with an inoperative ABS system the truck still has the ability to stop itself using the standard hydraulic braking system. The wrench light indicates there's a mechanical issue that needs to be fixed. The easiest way to isolate it is to have the codes scanned and go from there. The ABS system can be a chore to diagnose without a scanner designed for that purpose, unfortunately they are not the scanners the auto parts stores use for free. Your inability to get the truck moving is more likley to be related to the driveline/transmission.

Q:There is nothing in any manual about these two options in the MMI setup and while I have read elsewhere that the &quot;Touring Mode&quot; has to do with where the headlights point I was hoping someone might know... I believe the &quot;Auto Running Lights&quot; feature have to do with the sensitivity of the full lighting system coming on but am not sure...: call your saleman. hell tell you exactly what those mean.

Q:i have a ford galaxy 1999 glx 2.3 petrol car and the abs light is staying on sometimes it goes off it went off yesterday and came bk on this morning i dunno what is happing with thiscan someone help me please thanks its been in the auto elecs yesterday and he checked all the wires and its all fine and before that it was in a garage for 2 weeks and there is nowt up with it.is had a new fan belt tensor and a air con compressor: The ABS light will come on when a fault is detected in any part of the ABS system. There are sensors on the wheels (usually part of the braking assembly) there is also a pump/motor/valve assembly and that is what pumps the brakes so you don't have to. The pump may have gone bad, you need to check the computer codes that have been stored. (this requires a code scanner) The brakes should continue to function just fine but you will have no ABS function until you fix the problem.
