Q:I‘ve had my 2001 Chevy Impala 3.4 for almost 6 years now. I understand its not the most reliable car considering I‘ve had to make multiple mechanical repairs on it. But I‘ve recently stumbled over the newest of issues. While driving down the road, my battery light will come on for a few seconds, and then go away. Sometimes the SECURITY light comes on and won‘t go away until i restart the car. And also, sometimes, my buckle up warning light barks at me, even though i always wear my belt. This all started fairly recently, and I‘m clueless. Q:Went and got a stereo installed everything worked fine b4 now my clock dome light and trunk lights do not work I drove my car to my mechanic and they checked my fuses they are fine they said to go back and ask the people who installed my stereo system if they would pay for iti paid $430 for this system and all it was, was a new cd/mp3 player and sub/ampi already had to go back because the sub they gave me had a patchthey replaced it .btw when they were done with it my SRS light was on i sat and waited 2 hours for them to finally turn it off and i waited for them to try and fix the clock for them to tell me its probably not even worth fixing after i told them it worked before I‘m pretty angryso my question is am I stuck with the bill or should I ask them to help pay it or all?: Take it back and tell them, don't ask, tell them, to fix your clock, dome light and trunk light. If they can't or won't, tell them to remove the stereo they installed, put everything back like it was, and refund your $430. If they refuse to do that, go speak to an attorney about it and let the attorney speak for you with those people.

Q:I have a 2000 honda accord ex and the check engine light is on, i took it to advanced auto and they couldnt find the code but a few days later i took it back because it was still on on they said something about a o2 sensor or circuit then a couple days later i took it to the dealer i bout it from and they couldnt find the code what should i do cuz i have to take the car in for emissions: there are a few possibilities including the possibility that there is a problem in the connector that the scan tool is hooked up to. the first thing to do is to disconnect both of the battery cables from the battery. Then hold both of the disconnected cable ends together for at least 3 minutes. be sure you have good contact on both cable ends. that will remove any stored electrical charges in the system that might cause the light to go on for 'no reason'. after three minutes you can put the cables back on the battery and thghten them. then, turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine). watch the check engine light. it should stay on for at least 20 seconds. if it does, then you should be able to start the car and drive it and if the light stays on you should be able to retrieve a diagnostic trouble code with a scan tool. if you can't get a code at that point you either have a problem with the connector that the scan tool is being pluged into or a probale with a short in the light circuit that is putting the light on. if the check engine light doesn't stay on for 20 seconds when you turn the ignition to ON then the problem is a loose fuse in the fuse box or loose connectors . try this first. if the light is still on and the parts store can't get a code then put another post out and ask again. hope that helps

Any one else know?: The most efficient way to begin your diagnosis is to get to the nearest auto parts store and ask them to pull your computer codes. Most parts stores will do this for free. Once you have the codes, go home and do an online search for the cleaning and test procedures for each suspect component that appears in your code list. Never replace anything based solely on the report from a code reader or scanner. These devices are very helpful but cannot determine whether a component is defective or just dirty. Clean and test all suspect components then have the codes that you've addressed cleared from the computer by an auto parts store.

Q:Last night the power went out, and today my monitor keeps flashing Auto Adjust in Progress. I‘ve tried about everything I can think of; pressed the auto adjust on the screen itself, rebooted, updated my drivers. The last time this happened I found a file in my global start up that seemed to be causing the problem, and got rid of it and the message stopped, but that file isn‘t there anymore (it came from my isp‘s installation disc--i was trying to fix a different problem with it), and I‘m not sure what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :): Often this is the GPU manufacturer's silly utility, check your Toolbar for a utility, or: Right Click Desktop- Properties- Settings (tab)- Advanced (bottom button)- Options (tab) [maybe, depending on manufacturer] Poke around this may be the problem, or Somewhere in your monitor's firmware menu (this should be fun) there should be an 'Auto Setting' and in the same Menu it usually lets you use your preset.

Q:I replaced my steering wheel on an olds intrigue, the manufactures steps for disconnecting the srs system were followed. But the air bag light is now on and I dont want to pay the dealer to do the diagnostic. Everything is hooked back up properly and auto zone and other places i have tried dont have diagnostic testers with srs capability. Thanks in advance for any help!: You didn't say what year your olds is. There is a longer warranty for safety equipment. Putting that aside, you could have a bad sensor, so bite the bullet and get it checked out. It could be a matter of life or death. I spent about 6 months in a hospital one time, I wish I had air bags back then. don't play around with this. How much is your life worth, or your wife's or your child's?? good luck to you.
