Q:How much V headlight voltage is best?
General 12v cart 24v
Q:I want to add some lights to my bike to help with both night time visibility as well as day time boneheads pulling out from side roads who can't see me. I want to add two running lights up front, and two running lights in back for those women who like to do their nails while driving and may not notice I'm stopped at a red light. Will the 2004 Fatboy charging system handle the extra lights? I saw these blue bullet foglight type lights at AutoZone for like 20 bucks a set.
These guys are right about cheap crap from Autozone and places like that. All that sh** comes outta China and Taiwan and is a waste of money. Even though I don't own a Harley, if I did, I'd go with genuine HD parts, stuff that's not gonna make my ride look amateurish or possibly void any warranty that's in effect. As for other drivers seeing you, no, don't count on lights, vests, high-visiblity junk of any kind. You have to drive for them, so they can have time to text and eat and booger their nose or whatever. You ride and avoid. The three things that will keep you alive on a bike: Proper use of brakes, ability to properly and quickly swerve the bike, and your own judgement. Shiny side up, Dude!
Q:the system locked up this morning and the car will not start with the security light flash
This is part of the on board computer system. You are looking at a dealer issue to repair. Cannot be disabled and the car still run.
Q:ABS light is on, what does that mean, how do i get it off, and how much $$ will it cost me to get it off (ballpark figure)? Thanks, John
The only way to know why the check engine light is on is to hook it up to a diagnostic computer to read the codes. It could be anything from an O2 sensor to a bad fuel mixture. I see this every day as I work for a Toyota service dept. Probably not something you can fix yourself sorry..
Q:I checked the manual and that‘s what it says, it was hard for me to understand exactly what the problem is. I filled my gas tank up to over 1/2 a tank and it‘s good, all the oil levels are fine.I did drive on a dirt road a day before I saw this light pop up. How can I take this light off if everything seems to be fine?
You need to have the code read with a scan tool to find the exact problem your car is having, there are different sensors for the emissions system. You might just have a bad oxygen sensor.
Q:I left my gas cap off and someone told me this may have caused my check engine light to come on. Well I filled the tank and drove it a bit, but the light is still on. I drive a 99 chevy malibu. Is the light supposed to turn off or do I have to get it reset??
Hi, I am an auto technician. If your check engine light was a result of the gas cap being off, the light will remain on until the code is cleared, or a minimum of 40 engine warm up cycles. Not to sound pessimistic, but there is a possibility that the new gas cap could be faulty, if it is not a quality one. There are a lot of variables, too. Assuming this is an Evap (fuel vapor control) problem, the outside temperature plays a role. If the temperature is too low, (roughly 40*f) the computer will not test the system, which could mean your light will go out, only to come back on in warmer weather, if the problem remains unfixed. Fuel level is important, too. The computer will not test the system if the fuel level is too low (under about 25%) or too high (over 80%). As for clearing the code. Disconnecting the battery is NOT recommended, because this erases a LOT of valuable information, including your radio, of course. The fuses aren't really a good choice, either. Your car probably has several going to the computer, so it's a guessing game. The light should be turned off with a scan tool. But first make sure you find out what codes are stored. If the problem is in another system, some of the information needed to fix the car will be lost when the codes are cleared. Some parts stores can do this for you, but they do not have access to all of the codes that may be stored in your computer. Your best bet, I must say, is to find a reputable shop that specializes in driveability and diagnostics, and have them diagnose it, and explain your options. I would be interested to hear the outcome, if you don't mind. Good luck.
Q:OSRAM light bulb and Philips which is good?
OSRAM is better, but many people do not know, commonly used bulbs are Philips. OSRAM slightly more expensive, some people like to use more modified. Thank you
Q:Funny enough the van runs great, I had brought it from my 76 year old Dad in great condition, it only had 92thousand plus miles on it and it‘s a 1997. I‘ve had it for 2 weeks when the check engine light came on and the speedometer and odometer stopped working. What could be the problem?
Could possibly be the electronic control module. Take it to a dealer or shop. They should be able to hook it up to a computer that will help them diagnose what is wrong.
Q:While driving, my airbag light flashes this sequence: solid light for about 5 secs then 6 flashes. Sometimes the battery lamp will flicker. Also th ABS lamp comes on and stays solid. Anyone have any idea what that code might be? Is my ABS just toast?
that clicking noise was a bad constant velocity joint (assuming this is a front wheel drive car). any good mechanic should have known what that noise was.as to if it was their fault for not telling you the axle would break i highly doubt it as they are not fortune tellers and cannot see into the future
Q:I have a 2006 Ford Escape XLT and I was wondering if there is a way to make it where the daytime running lamps aren‘t always on. I thought Daytime Running Lights (DRL) were supposed to turn off if it was sunny outside, but I guess I was wrong.
