Q: Hi. I need to build a solar panel for a project. it should be able to light a 60 watt light bulb. also, it should be about 3x3 ft if it is 50% efficient. if anyone knows any websites or can help me, please answer! thanks.
I don't have any practical experience building solar panel arrays to power a given device, but allow me to make this observation. Solar cells, when exposed to sunlight, will each generate a given amount of power (watts), and by wiring these in series, you will increase the wattage. Now, a panel three feet square will give you a certain amount of power, provided all the cells are wired correctly in series, and it may not provide enough juice to light the bulb. You can work around this by adding a step-up transformer (which takes the incoming power and boosts it to the desired level for output, with no moving parts). Voila! You've illuminated your bulb. I will admit, though, you'll have to do some math to determine what you need. A search on the Web will help you find the formulae and other information you'll require. Good luck.
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering traffic lights?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power traffic lights. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can be used to power various devices, including traffic lights. This allows for a sustainable and renewable energy source for traffic signals, reducing reliance on traditional power grids and minimizing environmental impact.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a residential community or housing complex?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a residential community or housing complex. In fact, many residential communities and housing complexes worldwide are adopting solar power as a sustainable energy solution. Installing solar panels in these areas can help reduce electricity costs, decrease reliance on the grid, and contribute to a greener environment.
Q: who has solar panels on their home and are they worth it
Well I have some. I think it's a great investment. If you have the money it's totally worth it! If you notice on some street lamps there are solar panels. I am sure the town wouldn't waste there money it must be worth it. Schools are investing in it and lots of business. If I was you I would go for it. I was really happy with the company that did it for m- but they only service New York and New Jersey, not sure were you live. Enjoy saving money!
Q: Can solar panels be installed on south-facing windows?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on south-facing windows, as long as there is enough sunlight exposure throughout the day. South-facing windows tend to receive the most sunlight, making them a suitable location for solar panel installation. However, it is important to consider any potential obstructions or shading that may affect the panel's efficiency.
Q: Can solar panels be recycled?
Yes, solar panels can be recycled.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a car?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on cars. These panels can convert sunlight into electricity, which can then be used to power various components of a car, such as the battery, air conditioning, or even the motor. Solar panels on cars are a growing trend as they offer a sustainable and renewable energy source, reducing dependency on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions. However, the effectiveness of solar panels on cars may vary depending on factors such as the size of the panels, the amount of sunlight available, and the energy demands of the vehicle.
Q: I have a solar panel that puts out 00v, .5 amps in full sun. Before I thought it would charge a 2v battery without a solar charger but then I talked to someone and they said that it was wasting a lot of power and could potentially hurt the battery. A second part to this question is what happens if I put it on a 72v battery without a controller. Thanks!
The solar panel is capable of /2 Amp output. If you hook it to a 2V battery directly and the battery is discharged it will want more than /2 Amp and pull the voltage down until the battery is charged to a certain level. Eventually the battery will try to charge up to 00V which will definitely damage the battery. If you use a regulator circuit running off the solar panel that outputs 2V then you will have a constant voltage circuit which will still be limited to /2A or whatever the regulator is capable of outputting. Of course you can't just go out and connect 00V to any voltage regulator it has to be capable of running from 00V and dropping the voltage to 2V like the original charger that comes with the battery. The same explanation applies to a 72V battery. You have to limit the output voltage to 72V or risk overcharging the battery.
Q: I want to purchase some or one solar panel for my home. I don't know where to buy them from. I've loooked online and if i could buy them online that would be best, but if you knew of a website that has good prices than that would be great! Thanks

Q: I have two solar panels and I have measured that they produce V by themselves. I am trying to generate .5V, but whenever I hook them up in parallel I get something like .02V. What it happening?
. You want series, not parallel. (Add the voltages. Coonect '+' of the first to '-' of the next, and take your feed from the extreme ends.) 2. if you parallel them and you get less voltage than one alone, you got your polarity crossed up and are reading the difference between them.
