- Q: What a huge headache it looks like. The rubber seal on my small bathroom sink faucet is leaking just a little bit (not bad). As I look underneath the sink cabinet, the faucet mechanism is way in the back of the sink basin and very hard to get to. Need plumber and they are super expensive. No way I can do this by myself, I do not have the tools for one.Looks like the whole sink apparatus has to come out to get to the underneath portion of the faucet. How much do you guess this will cost? Just to replace this rubber seal that will probabl cost $1.00.Thanks.
- You can get the ring from any hardware store. However I recommend you just buy a variety pack with 10-20 different sizes. That will save you many trips back to the hardware store if one doesn't fit. Also check with friends to see if anyone has a couple of pipe wrenches you can borrow.
- Q: I've read step by step tutorials I found on google, but I'm stuck at only the first few steps! After turning the water off I was going to disconnect the supply lines as well as the nut that holds the current faucet onto the sink, but it seems as if it's in the counter. I don't know if that's clear enough, but the lines run into the counter it looks like, I was wondering if there was anyway I can reach this without going to extraordinary lengths like taking the countger top off
- is it possible to remove just the sink from the counter top? if so, you can simply remove the drain connection, score the caulking around the sink and then GENTLY lift the since out. then you'll have an opening to get to the connection under the counter.
- Q: My kitchen faucet got broken, so i am trying to replace it with a new faucet. But here is my problem. I CANNOT uninstall the old faucet!!!! The main screw that holds the old faucet got rusty and the space around the screw is so little, I cannot uninstall it. It is so tight and it doesn't come out....I feel like if I continue trying, it may totally ruin the screw and it may never come out...Is there any advice for that? Pls help me!!!!
- Spray it down with some WD-40 or rust remover, let it sit a few minutes. You have to get a good grip, try a vice grips, channel locks. Could also try an intial tap with a screwdriver and hammer to just break it loose so you can unscrew it.
- Q: American Standard 3-hole double basin basin faucet how to install
- General is the standard of this faucet is the case
- Q: Basin faucet leaking, how to disassemble?
- The interface rust is difficult to remove: the bathroom faucet in the demolition, at least into the water pipe connection is easy to separate. The kitchen, whether it is the water inlet or faucet with the table connection, the two interfaces are difficult to unscrew.
- Q: Is the basin faucet to the angle valve?
- Can not do, installed the angle valve, then easy to repair the tap point, directly off the angle valve can be off the water, and no angle valve can only go to the total gate
- Q: I Just bought a new kohler faucet to replace my old but the hoses on the new ones are short. It has a 3/8 connector and my old one had a 5/8 connector...the old hose is pinched into the shutoff valve tap so i cannot remove it...what can i do to connect the old pipe with the new one...please help....home depot was no help
- Here's the bottom line, as I see it. Shut off the water to the house at the service valve out front or, if that valve doesn't work properly, shut it off at the meter. Get a tubing cutter and cut off the service valve under the sink as close to the valve as you can. Do not use a hack saw, use a tubing cutter. Home Depot sells new service valves that are compression fittings to slip over the pipe coming out of the wall or floor. Take the old valve with you so they can help you with the correct size. You'll need to cut off both valves. When you buy the new valves, buy some new armored hoses to connect your new faucet to the new valves. You'll need a couple of wrenches to install the new valves and hoses, and you may need a basin wrench to install the new faucet. Consider the tools an investment and the valves and hoses maintenance expenses. Once you've done one successfully you'll never be intimidated by that type of job again. Good luck.
- Q: how do i remove the faucet from the delta 1400 series faucet?
- You may also have a single mount system with a U-shaped ring at the faucet center underneath, if so remove the nut and ring will slide off. Depending on access room under the sink you may need to obtain what we call a basin wrench, long tee handle with flip grips spring loaded at end.
- Q: Bathroom faucet is leaking. It has only one handle on it and you turn it left or right for hot or cold. Can I switch it out, easily, for a faucet that has a separate hot and cold knobs?
- Hi, Marinewife. Sure you can. Bathroom sinks are fairly standardized for faucet mounting. Basic instructions should come with the new one. The work's all done under the sink. Tools suggested would be a "basin wrench", a "crescent" wrench, and "channel lock" pliers, plus some plumber's tape. Note that there may or may not be small chrome valves under the sink to shut off the water supplies. If not, you'll need to turn off your main water supply valve downstairs when you start the work. If you were coming to my store, you'd have what you needed and know how to do it before you left. Clearing out the cabinet and taking some pictures of what's in there, to bring with you, could also be useful. One spot - hard to see but worth a check with a flashlight - is way up in back, where the water lines are hooked up to the bottom of the faucet. If you see a bunch of rusty stuff, that could be a hard part. Everything else is pretty straight-forward. Semper Fi, Ma'am. Please come back anytime.
- Q: I was filling a large basin with hot water. Suddenly there was a 'thump' and the water stopped running. I pushed the handle back and got cold water, then to the right and got cold water. But when I pushed the handle all the way to the left to get hot water, no water came out at all. The bathroom faucet gives hot water when I turn the handle and the bath faucet gives hot water. What happened to my kitchen faucet?
- Old water heaters get sediment, calcium deposits and other gunk. Maybe a chunk clogged the kitchen pipe?
