Q: I have a cabin that is way out in the middle of no where, it would cost 000's of dollars to get power to it. If I have a 8,000 BTU air conditioner that runs on 25 volts and 5 amps (or 875 watts)How many solar panels will I need to run this during the day, plus charge the batteries to run it all night? How many batteries would I need
You would need 6 300 watt solar panels, US price around $300 per, And a minimum of 4 batteries. You are going to have major problems only having 5 hours of sun though.I am not sure you could get it to work with only that much sunlight. Along with an inverter and some other controller units. If you live in an area that has some wind, a wind generator would knock it down to where you would only need 2 solar panels and a small 500 watt wind generator. The problem you are going to have is trying to run it all the time. I had an AC that size in my camping van, it took about 20 minute to run two batteries down so low that the inverter started to sound the low battery alert. If I left it running it did ok, and I had an over-sized alternator for it. I had a 50 amp heavy truck alternator. A swamp cooler would be a lot less energy, you could easily recycle about 95% of the water. I know this is the 2st century and this may sound a little nuts, but with only 5 hours of daylight, if you have some trees you could use for burning you could build an outdoor steam engine cheaper and it would charge a lot more batteries in a lot less time. Plus you could run off the steam engines generator for as long as you had a fire day or night. Even a small 55 gallon water tank would give you plenty of head for the steam. You could easily run a 6000 watt generator off of it and have plenty of electricity while it was running. Just a thought, I had to resort to some extreme measures when I bought some Montana land in 2000, it was 6 miles to the nearest utility pole.
Q: If you want to instal solar panels...how often do you have to replace them?
solar cells never really stop producing, they just reduce their output over the years. There are many solar panels still running at 75% of their initial output and have been up for over 40 years. Most manufacturer will give you a 25 or 30 year waranty. That means that they guarantee that the solar panels will have no less than a 0% drop in the amount of electricity produced by each panel in 30 years.
Q: cheapest price for a 20 watt solar panel sold on line
If okorder /... , cost $75 each. I haven't personally tried that product, but the company has been around for a long time, and is not a fly-by-night. If it has to last, there are dozens of places online that will sell conventional sealed panels. Expect to pay $2.00 a watt on up nowadays.
Q: im interested in starting a solar panel manufacturing company. ive researched on how to make them and it doesnt look too hard, and is definitely something i can figure out. i would be starting from nothing so my question is what are the chances of me actually selling a lot of panels and the business actually succeding?thanks
At this very moment, most of the people already have an idea on how to create their own solar panels, And creating your own company takes a lot of necessities such as permits ans other stuffs like that,.
Q: what parts and tool do i need to build and connect a solar electric panel to my home
you need to buy, not build. Just to put the parts together correctly requires a lot of experience, not something to be done by someone with no experience. And this is a major project, with lots of decisions before you start. how many watts? how many hours of sun do you get per day? worse case? Do you have a space to put the array where it can get sun all day with no shade? grid tie or not? how many batteries if not grid tie? if no grid tie, how long do you expect the batteries to last during a long period with no sun? And finally, how much money do you want to spend. for a good sized system expect to pay US$20k to 50k
Q: 3.8 volts is required to fully charge a battery. But at 3.8 volts, the battery can be overcharged without the use of a controller correct? What if I don't care if the battery is fully charged? In the case of our family boat, I just installed a new radio, so I'm a little worried about power consumption. So now for the real question; If I hook a 2 volt panel to the batteries, do I need to worry about overcharging them? Or will the batteries stop the charging process once they reach 2 volt?I built the panel myself, it's 8 volts at 3.5 amps open circuit. I have tabs at every 3 volt increment on the panel so that I can use less voltage than 8 if I want to power something directly, (ex:2 volt radio)So I'm using the 2 volt tab at 3.5 amps(approx) for a total of approx 48 watts
It is cheaper to have a solar regulator to extend the battery lifespan. A lead acid battery can vent hydrogen if charged too much and run out of electrolytes. The battery would cost more than a $30 5 amp solar regulator.
Q: This is for my science project and i cannot figure it outWe assumed that blue light shining on a solar panel would give off the higher volt reading because it has the shortest wavelength and the highest energy, but it was actually the lowest. Why does this happen? Im very confused And cant find the answer anywhere.... ,thank you!!
It is based on what the solar panel is made out of. Many of them will generate electric into the NIR region.
Q: Can solar panels be damaged by hail or other elements?
Yes, solar panels can be damaged by hail or other elements. Hailstones can cause cracks or dents on the surface of the panels, reducing their efficiency. Additionally, other elements like strong winds, debris, or extreme weather conditions can also potentially damage solar panels. However, modern solar panels are designed to withstand various weather conditions and are often tested for durability.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on data centers or IT facilities?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on data centers or IT facilities. In fact, many data centers and IT facilities are increasingly adopting solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective power source. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops or in open areas surrounding the facility to generate clean electricity and reduce their reliance on traditional grid power.
Q: I am heading to Nepal and do not want to lose power on my cameras but they can only be charged via quot;plugging inquot;. A USB connection does not work. Looking for a solar panel to clip to my bag or carry that I can plug in the charger as if plugging in to wall outlet. Thanks.
Solar panels require a charge converter before it can be used by an AC source. There is no direct solar panel with built in charge converters that I know of because, when purchasing panels, you must purchase the wattage requirements of the job (this can be several panels linked), and a charge converter that will handle the <? panels required. A chain of stores up here in Canada have a portable battery pack that has a solar panel to increase its charge capacity or duration, but its not something you would want to lug around for long periods of time, because is weights in about 3 lbs.
