Q: A solar panel facing the sun at noon in mid-summer receives more intensity of the light than when it is at horizontal. However, it can receives more total solar energy when it is at horizontal than when it is tilted during a long summer day. Regradless if it is shaded by building or trees. why is that so?
That okorder /... it shows a graph and explains it better.
Q: Can solar panels be used in conjunction with wind turbines?
Yes, solar panels can be used in conjunction with wind turbines. This combination is often referred to as a hybrid renewable energy system. By using both solar panels and wind turbines, it allows for a more reliable and consistent energy generation, as they can complement each other during different weather conditions.
Q: was looking at a few different sites, here is one of them
I had a system installed recently, so I would suggest starting by getting a quote from a licensed contractor. Even if you are planning on doing the installation yourself, a contractor will have a lot of useful info. I got 3 quotes and they were all about the same cost. I was able to get a 2 year usage history from our utility so the contractors were able to suggest a system based on that. They were able to tell me about rebates and tax credits, were the best location would be and the estimated amount of production. They have a nifty gadget that can tell if there will be any shade cast on the roof at any time during the year. I decided to maximize my rebates and got a system that reduced my utility bill by about 50%, although my production has cut it much more than that, my highest electric bill was $35, and that was in Dec. with cloudy short days. I got a $0K rebate and a $2K tax credit. This year the fed. tax credit is 30% of the total installed price. My system cost $26K, I paid $6K out of pocket and I'm saving about $2K per year.
Q: And I'm tring to decide if I should buy it. Let's say my house would need Megawatt per hour. That's 000 megawatts per hour. This solar panel produces 36 watts. I don't know how if that means per hour or what???
Well, a 5 Watt solar panel running for an average of 2 hours per day, (there will be clouds), will put 5 * 2 = 80 Watt-hours into the battery. Assuming your inverter, (to convert 2 Volts D.C. to 20 Volts A.C.) runs at 00% efficiency, that will only supply power to run the grill for about 22 minutes a day. In the real world, neither the battery nor the inverter will work at 00%, to your actual heating time will be significantly less. If you get about 0 more of those 5 Watt solar panels, that would give you about 50 Watts * 2 hours or about 800 Watt-hours which would more than cover what you want to do. The next problem is getting an inverter which will handle a 700 Watt load. They can be found at auto supply houses and the larger truck stops. (They are popular with semi-drivers.) Note however, that a standard car battery will have to supply about 55 Amps, which means you will have to use some really heavy wire, like # 4 or # 6 welding cables to connect the inverter to the battery to minimize losses. P = 700 Watts E = 3 Volts I = 53.84 Amps R =
Q: I have a 2 volt deep cylce Everstart battery with 845 cranking amps, and a Grape Solar GS-S-250-Fab5 250-Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel . I use them to power a 48Flat screen TV, a Roku, my 65 watt consuming MacBook Pro, and a 65 watt Fan.I know from previous experience that just the battery, an inverter, and the fan, that the fan will blow for 0 hours straight.Should I really be concerned with a Charge Controller?
Should I really be concerned with a Charge Controller? Yes. The main purpose of the charge controller is to protect the battery from over charging. Over charging reduces battery life. And spending extra money for a MPPT type controller will get more more useable power out of your solar panel. Would another battery of the same magnitude be helpful in preventing an accident? How much storage capacity does your current battery have (measured in kWH)? A ~$20 Kill-a-Watt meter would take a lot of uncertainty out of how much power you actually use. Even deep cycle batteries suffer reduced battery life from deep discharges. The battery sounds too small for the loads you describe so I would think you would want more. ---------------------------------------... After reading the other answer In a nutshell, with your small 2 volt starting battery, 24 volt panel and a mix of unknown loads, (which is correct), I thought I would elaborate. I had not considered the possibility that you bought a 24 volt panel for your 2 volt battery. Hooking the panel you bought directly to the current battery is a horrible idea. I you were lucky it would just cook the battery in a short period of time. You basically bought the wrong type of panel for a 2 volt system. I assume that there are no controllers on the the market for this situation. If that's the case, I don't know of any good way match the 24v panel to the 2 volt battery.
Q: What's the best deal going on companies leasing out Solar Panels in California?
you have been very mislead by someone. Or ? did you listen to a Obama speech or something ? EDIT ; thanks for response via e mail. But if you think you can save money by, renting solar panels , then you are a very ignorant person. The only way that a scheme would would work ,is if the company that is leasing the panels to you ,,have bribed lobbied the local or fed politicians to get subsidized to provide the panels. then they get payed to install them and guaranteed to make a profit by the gov. for green energy that is why you have to pay 25 cents , while most people pay 0 cents , because you subsidizing all the profits of these Professional thieves. Who's job is to find new ways to get into that deep pool of public dollars,,tax dollars . Question for you .. Do really think the rented solar panels will? ) pay for installation 2) pay for the cost to buy the panes 3) pay the sales commission to the people that sold it to you 4) pay the on going commission to those that over see them 5) Add to that the higher rate on your elec bill to pay for these people to be subsidized , so they can rent you some solar panels ??????? Like I said ,,,,,,,you must be very ignorant about energy. Or very Ignorant about the thousands of companies that are formed to succk tit of the tax payers. You are ignorant on both of those points. So dont get piisssed of at me for answering your question !!!!! Instead , you should ask why you are so easily led ? Why you are so easily fooled by the users ? That is those that use the gov to use ignorant people like you. HAHAHAAH. And you fell for the whole scam without even realizing it That is why I use the word ignorant ,, because you are. If you dont know what ignorant means google it to find out. because you are,
Q: Hello, i want to ask whether if you could make an improvised version of solar panel made from an old CD or DVD?Is it possible or not? Please give me steps on how to make one if you know(put aside the one you see on quot;ehow: How to Make a Solar Panel From CDswhich says a bit confusing for me :( )Why not?

Q: Solar Panels not working very well, they have faded. Is there any paint or anything else I can do to restore them? Thanks Eileen
Unfortunately Eileen the panels are bound to fade as its par for the course. Over time much like everything else (from an AC condenser to your knees and hips) everything starts to go south. When did you purchase and install your panels? If this was done within the past few years then something is definitely wrong, and you should have the manufacturer and installer come back and replace the panels....on their dime of course. Is the warranty on your panels still in effect? If so then its definitely something that they have to come back and take care of. There is a company I know of called Sun Electronics that has a 20 year warranty on their products, so if its worth anything you might want to buy your new panels/system from them. The panels around today are more efficient than those of years past, and with the cost coming down due to economies of scale and the tax incentives you might want to consider getting a new system. Sorry to let you down though Eileen!
Q: I have had this 2v portable Solar Panel for my apartment for awhile. Only problem is that I have no balcony and I can barely get enough sun to use it with my Cobra 450 400-800 watt outlet converter. Can someone advise me a better method to use these? Like do I have to get more 2v solar panels? I have a small apartment and use it on one window. Also is it possible for me to buy a portable storage tank to store the energy gathered from the sun by the solar panel?
How okorder /
Q: why don't we take a cue from mother nature and make our soar panels like trees? thousands of leaves or needle (like a pine tree) instead of one big flat panel? I mean it seems to work pretty good for all the plants i see why would it not work for us. It would be aesthetically pleasing and with the right engineering wouldn't it make them not have to worry about tracking the sun? i already have some ideas about the process of making them just no available labratory.
Because we and the trees are trying to solve a different problem. We want electricity, a tree wants light (and some heat) for photosynthesis. In getting the electricity we use Silicon for solar panels. (Sometimes Gallium Arsenide). And we exploit the same thing in Silicon that allows them to be computer chips. The fact that they conduct differently when voltage is applied. But for a solar panel that is done essentially in reverse. We GET a voltage difference (electricity) from shoving energy through it. Look up junction bias on google or yahoo for explanation. But the DESIGN problem is: You have to couple these panels together the right way - according to their bias. You can't string them up willy nilly. There is a pattern. And when one breaks in this pattern. (I mean when the actual panel cracks, which they do easily as they are brittle). It can change the overall bias. This can make even be worse than if it was removed, it can actually fight against the working ones. The efficiency is there in arranging them like a tree, but the practicality of maintenance would be daunting.
