Q:I need to be able to charge a 2v 7amp battery with a solar panel. I understand that the charge controller will keep the battery from over charging/discharging, but what I don't understand is the amps. The solar panel is rated at 5watts.The solar panel comes with a 2v 3amp charge controller but will I need to buy a 7amp charge controller and replace it with that for my battery pack? Please explain. Thanks in advance.
If it is a charge controller that is wired between the panel and the battery only, then a 3A rating is ample. The controller only has to handle the maximum current that the solar panel can output. The panel will have (or needs to have) an open-circuit voltage that is greater than about 4V in order to actually charge the battery, whose terminal voltage will rise above 2V as it charges. The panel's open circuit output voltage typically is about 7V. The 5W rating is at the maximum power point under the illumination of standard sun and at a specified temperature. That maximum power point probably is around 4V, which means the panel will deliver the following amperage to charge the battery: I = P/V = 5W/4V = 0.36A Since 0.36A is well below the 3A rating of the controller, the controller will not be overloaded when charging the battery. Some charge controllers also have terminals for connecting the load that you want to power. If that's the case, then the controller also needs to be rated to handle that load amperage or higher. If you were to connect a 6A load, then you would like to have say a 0A controller. Hope that helps.
Q:Can solar panels be used to power a data center?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a data center. Solar energy can be harnessed through photovoltaic panels and converted into electricity to power a data center's operations. This approach helps reduce reliance on traditional energy sources and promotes sustainability. However, the feasibility and effectiveness of using solar panels will depend on factors like the size of the data center, available sunlight, and energy requirements.
Q:Are solar panels worth the investment?
Yes, solar panels are worth the investment. They offer long-term financial savings by reducing electricity bills and the potential for selling excess energy back to the grid. Additionally, they contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future by reducing carbon emissions and dependency on fossil fuels.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on airports?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on airports. In fact, many airports around the world have already adopted solar power systems to generate clean and renewable energy. These panels can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or open spaces within the airport premises, effectively reducing their reliance on traditional energy sources and contributing to a more sustainable aviation industry.
Q:I am searching for producers or distributors of solar panels. Thanks!
There are ton's of distributor around that can provide you a cheap solar panel that didn't came from China. Expand your knowledge and learn from a renowned solar company about the Best Solar Panels. Visit our site and contact us today!
Q:Alright my family and i are buying a new home in Bradford,Ontario, we we thinking about solar panels and had a couple questions:. how much are they each?2. how many will we need to power a single family home(4 ppl)3. where can we find them in ontario?4.how much money do they really save you?5.what kind of energy do they providfe you withand other basic info or a website i can check out would be great!thanks in advance!
I have a system that was installed last year. I have 20 panels which provide me with about 75% of my electricity. I do use less electricity than the average home. I use an average of 45 kwh in the summer, my neighbor uses more than double that. I paid $26K for the system, but I got a $0K rebate from my utility and the US gives a fed. tax credit. I am saving about $2K per year, so it will take just over 6 years to break even. I also have what I think is called net metering, my utility allows my meter to run backwards when I generate more energy than I use, so pretty much the entire time the sun is out in the summer. Having energy efficient appliances, reducing standby energy and using conservative climate control really helps keep my usage down. Weather striping, insulation and clean well maintained systems all help as well.
Q:Any recommendations for companies? Any things to look out for?
It strongly depends on where you live. In California or Hawaii, for example, solar can be cheaper than the power company, even without subsidies. Any incentives you get just make it better. Whatever you do, like any construction project, get 3 bids from different companies. If there are not 3 companies in your area, you are probably in a poor location for solar. Avoid any company that does a hard sell and tries to get you to commit immediately, or makes you uncomfortable in any way.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on outdoor event venues?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on outdoor event venues. Solar panels are versatile and can be mounted on various surfaces, including rooftops, canopies, and even the ground. Installing solar panels on event venues can help generate clean and renewable energy, reducing reliance on traditional power sources and minimizing carbon emissions. Additionally, solar panels can provide shade and protect attendees from the sun, creating a more comfortable environment during outdoor events.
Q:hi,i have 4 solar panels. I can get 9V 400mA when i wired them parallel. The question is: how can i make a regulator circuit to store power into batteries.
wire them in series parallel to get 8 volts at 200 mA, and that should charge a 2 volt battery. You may want to put in a series diode to prevent the battery from discharging into the panel when the sun is out. At 200 mA, depending on the battery size, you may not need much control, as that low a current will not overcharge a large battery, like a small auto battery. In fact it will take a very long time to charge it. edit: But do i need to add a regulator? If by that you mean a voltage regulator, no, as a solar panel has a high output resistance, and that will limit the current into the battery. If you mean a charge controller, if the battery is small, you may need a charge contoller to avoid overcharging the battery. But that is not a voltage regulator. .
Q:Can solar panels be used to power a farm?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a farm. They can generate electricity from sunlight, which can be utilized to operate various farming activities such as irrigation systems, lighting, and machinery. Solar power offers a sustainable and renewable energy solution for farms, reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuel-based electricity and potentially reducing operating costs.
