Q:my leopard gecko laid eggs two days ago and i already candled them and one of them has a bulls eye thing and the other one is yellow but it has small veins at the bottom of it that kinda form a small circle and this egg is bigger than the one with the bulls eye and neither of them have dents in them or mold or anything they are puffy and white
The bulls eye thing is an embryo, but I believe the second egg you described is infertile.
Q:i have tried a lot, but my eggs keep dying,HELP!!how can i tell if they are alive or dead? what are other problems with incubating eggs? how do i solve those problems? how should an egg feel or look like? how moist or dry should the eggs be? I NEED ALL THE HELP AND INFO I CAN GET!!
revlon,,, its brown and pink
Q:In my attic, I have found two types of blown in and/or loose fill shredded insulation, in two layers, totaling 6 inches of depth. The bottom layer is a very dark gray wool, where the top layer is a yellow shredded material that I think is fiberglass. The house was built around 1950. I have been laying blankets of fiberglass insulation to increase the R-value, but I was concerned there might be asbestos. What are the two layers, especially the dark gray one? Rock wool?
Sounds like rock-wool, I have it in my 1950's attic too. FYI: asbestos insulation is an off white color and about the only place you find it in older homes is wrapped around steam pipes and old boilers.
Q:i mean for example, at first, u have to place the seeds in something, then transplant them blah blahthis is just an example, so try to answer step by step as scientifically as u can. 10 points fresh from the oven!! no crap is to be posted. please answer asap.
Hydroponics is simply growing plants in nutrient-laden running water. On some plants such as water chestnuts and watercress it seems to work fine commercially. The history of partial-hydroponics starts with the Egyptians placing some plants(in very loose weaved reed baskets) into the flood water eddies of the Nile river and letting the nutrient rich river water feed the plants. Hydroponics has not been a very commercially successful endeavor overall. The exception to this rule is the illegal growing of drug producing plants clandestinely under artificial lights--which ends a lot of folks in jail.
Q:amaryllis have seed pods.when and how do i harvest them ? how hard are they to grow from seed?
It seems easy enough. but the seeds need to be planted soon after the capsule matures and opens. If you delay, the seeds may die. As the flower fades, the pod at the base of the flower will swell. When it turns yellow and begins to break open, collect the seeds (they look like dry, flattened raisins) and sow them in vermiculite or a seed-starting mixture. When they sprout they will look like grass. In a few weeks bulbs will begin to form. Transplant the seedlings to larger pots and keep them growing in a sunny location. Do not let them go dormant. In four or five years the bulbs will be big enough to bloom. www.georgia /00/article/0,2086. The seeds appear as flat, black, papery structures about one-half inch across. These structures are coverings that serve as wings to allow the wind to disperse the seeds after they mature. The actual seeds are small lumps in this wing. When you plant these seeds, do not bury them deeply. Put them on top of moist potting soil and cover lightly with potting soil or finely shredded sphagnum moss. Moisten this covering medium and then place plastic wrap (or some other material) to retain the moisture over the pot in which the seeds are planted. Avoid over-wetting; the soil and covering material should be only slightly damp. Maintain this level of moisture until the seeds begin germinating, and then irrigate to keep the soil evenly moist as the seedlings grow. cahe.nmsu.edu/CES/yard/2005/09030.
Q:So about 3 weeks ago I planted some teeny tiny Venus Fly Trap seeds, but instead of getting Perlite for them I bought Vermiculite and planted them in that. They're not growing, and I've had them in indirect sunlight all day since I planted them. And I water the peat moss soil every other day with just one spray. Is the vermiculite keeping them from growing?
if your female was not with a male then the egg is not fertile. leopard gecko eggs that are fertile will grow just a little as the embryo grows inside the egg. you also need to remove the fertile eggs an use an incubator (for the best hatch results) by candling the egg you need to be extremely care full not to rotate the egg at all. reptile embryo's attach themselves to the top of the egg, if it is torn away from the spot it attaches itself to the embryo will die. if you do not have an incubator then leave the egg's where they are (if she layed them in some sort of incubation substrate, like ecco-peat or peat moss) keep an eye on them and if they collapse into themselves or mold then the eggs are dead. do not put any sort of moisture directly onto the egg's, this will cause them to mold and die. hope this helps
Q:I put a bunch of vermiculite (that is probably spelled wrong.) in a pot and then watered it down until the water was as deep as the vermiculite, then dipped the stems of the clippings in some root growth powder and stuck the stems in the vermiculite, I don't think the leaves were touching the wet vermiculite, but after a little over a weak the clippings were basicly reduced to slime... what went wrong?? was there to much water for them??? Was the vermiculite to much for the leaves?? I know that their leaves are very sensitive to water on them, but I am pretty sure they weren't touching the vermiculite/water mix. :S
the best thing to do would be to call a home inspector. They know all the dangers to look for in the entire house, not just the insulation. (Mold, rot, waterdamage, termites, mildew, etc)
Q:i need to find a soilless growing media to replace bagasse
Personally, I would start again. Sorry.
Q:Hi there. My snake is pregnant and she should lay any day now. My incubator is warmed up to 85 Degrees Fahrenheit but I am not sure whether I will need to keep the moss in the laying box moist when they are being incubated, or just to leave them. Also, will I need to separate the hatchlings after they hatch and how long after and what containers would be appropriate? Thanks!
I have purchased vermiculite (the granular kind) at The Home Depot. It's inside though, with the houseplants, not in the garden center.
Q:What dirt to use for bearded dragons eggs?
I have had great success in my raised beds using the square foot garden soil - 1/3 vermiculite (ace hardware has big bags, best price I found), 1/3 peat and 1/3 compost, the more varieties of compost you can use the better. I got some composted horse manure to use for some of my compost, free and worked great! You can look up the book if you want more tips, but the soil mix is always the same recommendation.
