UPVC/PVC is good performance for sound and heat insulation.

Q: Can YOUHOOS at Yahoos give me an idea where I can find a sheetof heavy clear/ or even transparent plastic to put over my window thatnot like this cheap garbage I used from Frost King at home depot.. The last stuff came from a roll and was heavy duty and I don't need a roll of it, I'm just drawing a blank here. And this boxed up stuff sold in cheap discount stores really is garbage 1 mil junk.. Oh, and yes, this is their outdoor stuff , not the shrink indoor kit.... The window is about 4 ft x 6 ft..... 1950 era.....(hence the need for plastic ). I've got a few smaller as well... Q: I saw an online video that we can go to our local home depot etc and buy kits where we use a blow drying and put plastic on the inside of our windows. How much does this really help in saving on energy costs for those of you who know this kind of stuff. I am on a very limited budget, so I am looking at those,: Short answer... Have used them they make a difference. They do cut down on drafts can make living space more comfortable. A cheap, temporary fix for drafty windows. Best regards

Q: I have yucky shades on my windows dead bugs all around my windows. They are old windows so I bought an insulation kit to do the windows. It says I will need to blow dry.What if I don't want to touch the disgusting shades my landlord said be would replace when I moved in ? I am kind of stuck living here so until I can find a place a roommate, I want to seal the windows. shades completely. They have poor insulation a handful bugs come in every hour.Do you think the plastic will work without shrinking it with a blowdryer? There are slice webs around my window so I am disgusted.: Try doing basic housekeeping instead of living with dead bugs.

Q: I own a 323i bmw convertible. I just replaced the top but the back plastic window is already starting to cloud. I was recommended a wax called ziond or something along those lines. It worked the first time but is now turning the window yellow. I dont wish to replace the window so i was wondering if anyone knew an easier option? such as some home remedy to grease it off. idk ive tried everything!thanks!: it's not too hard. It's the same thing that happens to headlights, condensation gets in and discolors the plastic. Go to your local Advance or NAPA or even sears, just pick up a thing of headlight restorer. All you have to do is rub it on and rub it off five minutes later. It's pretty cheap too, like 12 bucks max. hope this helped

Q: I don't mind if its designed for another brand but I am getting very frustrated because I can't find it on GE's site or any other. I bought the unit without it in hopes I could find one online but can't find the specific one. HELP! The piece is the one that sits in the window to hold the hose in the window. The unit is a Portable AC which means it sits on the floor not in the window so its got specially designed plastic plate piece that is adjustable for your window size.: Measure the window opening and go to a glass place with the hose and have them make you a lexan piece to fit the window with a hole in it. Lexan is very sturdy. You can run a rod straight thru the outside part of hose to keep it in place or tape it. It isn't like some technically expensive part to make. Actually it will probably be better than original. BTW, keep the hose as short as you can as it gets warm and heats the room as the compressor cools it. I had one and the closest I could get was 5 feet and it didn't help at all.

Q: Is there a way to get the plastic windows on my convertible clear again without replacing.?: Yes! There are actuall polishes made for these windows. I have also used Softscrub but only on real basket cases. Try some toothpaste and a soft rag on a small spot on your rear window. I have seen this done once before with pretty good results.

Q: I am talking about the stuff you tape to the inside of your home windows and use a hair dryer to stretch it tight. It is supposed to keep single pane windows better at keeping in the heat. I live where it gets 30 degrees at night and 40-50 during the day in winter. Does anyone have experience with these products? Which type works best? Mainly, does it really keep heat in? OR does it keep sunlight heat out and balance out to zero help?: Yes, this stuff does work, and I don't think there is much of a difference between the various brands; though some are easier to work with than others. You could also try caulking cord. I discovered this stuff at Home Depot and it works really well, too. You put it over all gaps in the window and frame and smooth it down with your fingers.

Q: well i have a 1992 alfa romeo spider and some idiots sliced the back of the convertible on my plastic window. i was wondering how much it would cost if i send it to a shop and they sew off the old plastic window and sew back on a new plastic window: they can do it --they have to remove the top-remove the stitching from old window and remove window-sew in window- replace top on car--this is NOT cheap but still cheaper than new top=--look for about 400 buck charge--shop all the auto upholstery shops in your area first--talk to your friends -talk to people in auto industry that have used any shops--you are naturally looking for someone that can do the job and do it efficiently and correctly- and at the lowest price==most shops operate on the cheap,good,fast idea--you can have any 2 of these statements--cheap and good not fast--you get the idea
