- It's an air hose that connects your air filter to your engine. It's safe to drive, but you should replace it when you get the chance. And there's no need to take it to your mechanic either. Just use a screwdriver to disconnect the hose clamps at either end, and if the new hose is a tight fit, you might need some kind of lube to get it on there. I just replaced mine because the old one had a tear that was wrapped in tape, and my mechanic suggested I replace it. It would have been $78 plus tax at Auto Zone, but instead I got the exact same thing on OKorder for $12.

- You don't. The tubes contain mercury (in a VERY minute amount) and should not be opend up for any reason other than disposal, which only recycling firms are allowed to do. There IS another alternative however, and that is the plastic safty cover for them. They are sold at the big box stores, Home Depot and Lowe's, and likely in other places as well. The link shows some *specialty* covers but there are also plain, clear covers for them, though I admit that the colored ones give you a much better idea of what to look for. Al

- Q: I make models and the plastic that winds up in the trash could be reused if only I knew how to glue it. I have tried all of mine (401, epoxy, Loctite, Gorilla Glue, etc) to no avail.
- I use E-6000 clear glue for almost everything. I am a sewer and needed some weights so I used this glue on huge metal washers putting two of them together for more weight. I have had these weights for quite a few years. The trick to this glue is to let is set. According to the label is it flexible, paintable, non-flammable, waterproof, safe for photographs, etc. I would suggest not using this in an enclosed area for any length of time. - What they mean by sterile is that when they were produced they were either put under a UV light or place in a high temperature vat. So by the time they are place in the packaging they are sterile. When you open the package it is up to you to keep the environment that you are working in sterile. When the caps are tight, it should be an air tight seal lowering the change of contamination.
