- Q: After all the great talk about SharkBite fittings and how they are a quick and easy way to fix a water line, I am stumped on the pipe sizes. What happened is when I was in Lowes, I noticed their knockoff brand called GatorBite. It comes in 1/2 and 3/4 like Sharkbite. But anyone who knows about copper and pvc knows that 1/2 is actually 5/8 OD. So, a 1/2 copper pipe will not fit inside a SharkBite fitting. You would have to use 3/8 to get a 1/2 OD since the fittings are 1/2 ID.Can someone clarify this? I tried lining up a section of 1/2 copper to the GatorBite fitting and it was exactly the same size as the sleeve. And the demo display had some pipes hanging out of the fitting that you could pull out for demonstration. The copper pipr I pulled out slid right inside a 1/2 copper line. 3/8 for sure.
- They do. Not often, but there are hot wheel detectors out there for a reason. The most common cause is a handbrake not fully released or a malfunctioning control valve on the car. At night you can see one pinwheeling in distress. The difference today that limits overheating is found in the brake shoes themselves. Cast iron brake shoes went out with friction bearings. Today the brake shoes are a composite that not only resists overheating, but need to warm up a bit as they then become more efficient. If you're in a situation where you over heat those and you've got muuuuuuuuch bigger problems.. In the days when retaining valves were used (originated with steam operations, but were still used when I last used them in 1984) overheating of the wheels was nearly guaranteed. The rules for utilizing retaining valves included designated stops for wheel heat radiation within retaining valve territory. Which makes me wonder, now never used and in many cases specifically prohibited, why are they still on the cars? No one is going to start down ANY significant grade without sufficient dynamic brake. Maybe for post-cataclysmic operations, perhaps? Doubtful. More likely some politico's connection to the FRA includes someone else's brother in law that has ties to Westinghouse
- Q: We have a male rottie now, and would like to get another one in about a year? when our new home is built. The Male we have now in 5 months and AKC Reg., health, and pretty sound. We are going to get him altured at 8 months, but getting rid of him is not a opion. We have had females together and they have done fine, had a male and female and also did fine, but 2 males would be new to uswhat do you think. No I have never breeded these animails, all were spayed and nutured, I am not a back yard breeder, My stud dog (when I get it) will be studded to fine canadites only! - Too bad you don't have the Bump A Head signs we have around here.
- Q: Any Storage systems or anything?
- A lot of us plumbers (including me) put just a little on the threads to make disassemble easier in the future. Some have different ideas about putting dope on the farrells or face of the fitting, but most of us do put a little on the threads. . .
- Q: any fruit that has a fiber that can help resist fire like that of a fire blanket
- Forktail is wrong you do NOT need a MC permit to take the class. You need only to be able to ride a bicycle and have a CA driver license. Oh, and have a pair of boots that COVER your ankles, a pair of sunglasses, a long-sleeve shirt (or jacket, since it is getting a bit colder), and jeans. Also needed is a DOT or Snell-approved helmet (buy one if you're serious, or borrow a friend's) and (motocross, riding or leather) gloves that are full-fingered, not fingerless. I should know I took the class at Palomar College. It is three days of fun, but you have to look at it as fun, or you will fail. If you take it seriously, you will have little, if any, problems. My 3-day class (Fri-Sat-Sun) was 5hrs class on Fri, 5hrs class Sat, 5hrs riding Sat, and ~5hrs riding and testing Sun. Class is easy you're given a workbook, and go thru motorcycling that was very interesting, not boring stuff. Riding was really fun. You use 125's or 250's and you are really taught from the very beginning how to mount a bike, turn it on, ride it, basic riding skills, drills and it culminates to a riding test you MUST pass to get your safety license and that is important because it gives you a free pass at DMV from taking a riding test on a bike. You only need to take the written. Know that when you do march into DMV with your motorcycle safety certificate, when you take the written, you WILL take half of a driver test (to check if you still know the rules of the road as a driver of a car) as well as the motorcycle part of the test. Highly recommend going to DMV before class and get the motorcycle handbook (and get the automobile one, in case you are nervous about that part of the test couldn't hurt to just pick one up). Doing this class is probably the smartest thing you can do prior to riding on the street. Good luck to you!
- Q: Neither side works now. Blanket gone bad?
- While I normally might be able to answer you (my husband is a plumber) he's ill. But I can tell you that if you try Home Depot (ask for someone who works IN the plumbing dept). they are very helpful.
- Q: I have an adorable track suit that I purchased from Victoria's Secret ages ago (the kind that nobody ever actually wears for track.. ^_~), and it's made from deep wine-red velour. I went to put it on earlier, and realized that while the *outside* was soft, sensual velour, the *inside* was scratchy and not all that soft. It's the same way with clothing that's satin, or silk, or velvet, or that smooth satin-like fabric that I don't know the name of it always feels wonderful on the *outside*, but *not* on the part that's against my skin. Why is this??
- This Site Might Help You. RE: Consumer product safety act of 1972? What was the consumer issue that caused the need for the act? Why the revelent consumer issue became inmportant at the time the act was passed? was there a specific chain of events that led to the legislation who promoted the legislation?
- Q: My mother and I never got along and I wanted to tell her about my boyfriend who works at the same school where my mother works. He's never done anything wrong nor has he done anything to my mother. My mother found out who my boyfriend is and is freaking furious. Although I am a single parent, in school all I asked was that she watch over my daughter till I finish school. I wanted to tell her about my boyfriend but he wasn't ready so I held off on it. My mom really believes the ugly rumors and awful things that people say. She claims she has the evidence she needs to get him fired. How is this so and is she even allowed to do that? I want to fix this because I feel it's all my fault thanks to my crazy mother. I am trying to stand up to her and I need advice or suggestions. Please help, anyone. And please no sarcasm. Thank you.
- its either the battery or if its more than about 8 years old you need a new smoke detector
- Q: OK so I bought a home in UT about 2 months ago and we didn't notice the home doesn't have smoke alarms. I read my home inspection report and surprise there is nothing in there about them it seems he didn't even look for them.SO.1) Isn't it required to have smoke detectors in a home2) Shouldn't it be in my inspection report?
- STUDY6640: Like a true Neo-Con, you can't answer intelligently, and when you can't, you start with the name-calling. However, it's not even a political party that is not listening. Dems and Republicans do the same thing. Money is usually the key issue on not putting a heat detector on the 78th floor. People try to find ways to cut corners, and it usually costs other's lives.
- Q: Give me some info about hands free access control, thank you!
- I agree that having smoke detectors is a state specific issue. Search online for the Landlord Tenant Act in Kentucky. A new law in Florida requires it to be provided with any leases. Also refer to your lease. How to handle repairs is a provision in any lease I've ever seen. You are in a contractual relationship with your landlord, so not paying your rent can be considered a breach that could eventually lead to eviction. Eviction on your record can make it difficult to rent again. I'm not an attorney, but a realtor and landlord. I know it can be very frustrating not to hear back from a landlord. If you are in a position, perhaps you should consider home ownership, and that can be the first step to your becoming a landlord.
- Q: How to use the clamp type pipe joint?
- The clamping sleeve type straight through joint has clamps at both ends, and it is worn at the end of the pipe which needs to be connected, and then it is clamped and connected with the nut,
