- OH boy! I have seen this kind of jury rig job before! You will likely have to cut open the wall around the pipe to get to the leak. If it is galvanized pipe in the wall, you need to measure the outside diameter of the connection, (probably a tee) and go to your home center and get a Fernco connector. This is a black rubber connector with hose clamps on each end. You need one that will fit over the end of the fitting in the wall, and then you can tighten it with a screwdriver. Now you can go to PVC pipe and do whatever fittings needed to make it fit the sink drain.
- Q: I have a 99 Dodge Neon and I bought it used. I don't think the alarm in it is factory.I went to start it after it sat for a while and the alarm started going off, and the car wouldn't start. Wouldn't even try.The only way to make the alarm stop was to unplug the speaker with the alarm. - Personally I would have used a compression fitting myself because the brass ferrule ( the little ring) actually bites into the copper tubing and is virtually foolproof. There is more of a chance for rigid tubing stretched by flaring to have stress cracks because it isn't meant to be stretched into a flare. Having said that, as long as it doesn't leak currently you should be fine, just keep an eye out for dripping which would be the forerunner of a failure that you feared in the first place.
