Q: Just noticed that the carbon monoxide alarm is chirping every 30 seconds. I changed the batteries but the alarm is still chirping every 30 seconds. It is 1 am and a Saturday morning is it safe to just pull out the batteries to keep the alarm quiet until morning when I can have it checked?
think about what you just said, and hope you don't become one of the many of people who had die in house fires without having a working smoke detector
Q: is sleeping with a heating blanket every night save?
Buzzard and my finishing move would be called the Buzzkiller!
Q: Would I still need to be concerned about carbon monoxide build up if I converted to a heat pump system for my home. I have no appliances that use gas. Could I then get rid of my carbon monoxide detector?
Ken is right about the stress cracks, I've seen it first hand. I use both, just a couple wraps/layers and then TFE paste with teflon. Hope this helps, and good luck.
Q: what is elastomer?what is resin?
A picture would help. But if you are talking about a Bronze P-trap pipe being corroded then I think I can help. There are two options if all that is bad are the threads then you can cut that off the old P-trap and replace it with a P-trap that uses compression fittings. IF the Bronze P-trap pipe is too bad off usually you will find that there is also a large copper pipe it is soldered too. What I do is cut off the old Bronze P-trap at the copper piece. If you can, remove the Bronze piece from the copper pipe with a torch. I like to do this when possible but it is not mandatory. Clean up what ever you have left and use a compression replacement P-trap. I use PVC. They last longer. I can't see what you see so if this is not helpful then a picture would help us better answer this question.
Q: I've a dishwashing job at a restaurant, I don't like to wear those annoying rubber gloves that make my hands sweat. Is it really necessary to wear gloves?
Within the AHU ther are whats called Dampers a device that is designed to stop the spread of fire normally on the air intake side of the ahu as opposed to the extract side of the system. The BMS is where the system programming is and there are many variations of different logics and situations. Simply you will have a smoke detector of some kind in the AHU, and when smoke is detected it sends a signal to the BMS and closes the Damper and / or the Air intake Fan. Probebly from the design of the system smoke detectors are placed in the higher risk places of the system. Hope this helps, I work on these systems all the time. Neil
Q: Well..Im from seattle. Lol we arent the best drivers ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SNOWS. it rarely snows at it snowed yesterday and the roads are slippery and icy! We have really really steep hills, so thats why its harder for us, and no one teaches us in drivers ed. :-(
Oddly, reducing your own personal use (dishwashersshowers, washing machines, etc.) is a good start, checking the condition of your pipes, fittings and seals is an even better way to maximize the efficiency of your homes water consumption. A recent study in the City of Tampa Bay found that nearly 20% of the city's water usage was due to household leaks! While installing low-flow fittings, appliances and toilets also helps, do your research on what products are best for your situation. There is still a good deal of debate out there on just the degree of benefit these additions provide. Good luck!
Q: I have a water fire extinguisher that was made in 1981 and was last hydro tested in 1999. I know how to recharge it, I just want to know if it is safe to do so?
I'm just guessing that you are referring to drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping which operates under little or no pressure. Normally, waste and drain piping is made up from slip nut connections to simplify access for routine maintenance. In my experience, teflon ferrules will positively seal joints with finger tightness (if the piping and ferrule are clean). Ferrules (nylon or other plastic) are used on PVC and brass waste and drain piping. Rubber is used in some fittings but the performance depends on the integrity of the slip nut rather than the pipe wall (usually it is inferior).
Q: I have a pathfinder with an annoying alarm. If I take ou the Horn fuse will the alarm stop going off. It is SOOO loud that people at work and in my apartment complex want to gag me and kill me - but don't want to pay 50 bucks to have it shut off. Or what fuse number would it be?? It was already there and i bought it used, so there's not a manual. Thanks for any feedback!!!
The costs of the materials is easy to figure. If you use flex pipe then it should be about $20.00 for the flex pipe and then there are the fittings at $5.00 per end, and a valve if they can not reuse the old one. But you may be required by code to use black pipe, then both the labor and materials will be a bit more. Local building codes vary especially if you live in Chicago (stricter codes - unneeded by unions). Then you have the question of labor. Are you going with the joists or perpendicular to them?. The labor should not be more than a couple of hundred. But is this a part of the overall project or do you need to have a separate plumber come in for the job? It is more if not a part of the original estimate and a different contractor needs to be called in that was not scheduled. All in all you should be able to get this done for less than $300.00. It could be as cheap as $100.00 You have a lot of variables that come into play.
Q: its a friend's birthday this weekend and he's planning on going to ocean beach in the bay area and throw a bonfire. just want to know what we should bring cause we never done that before? can we bring liquor beer? do a BBQ? do we need to reserve a fire pit? if so what time should we leave to reserve it? we're coming from Sacramento, ca. thank you in advance!
Let's dress up like apples and dance around the city singing I'm a gummy bear!
Q: Man, can you send me some national standards? Mainly for hydraulic use
Here you are, some European companies, but you need to download them on the Baidu Library
