Q: Is there any way to charge my laptop with a solar panel? Is there any panel like that. Or if I work on panels can I do something like that. If you know anything about it, can you just help me? Thanks a lot.
Deep Cycle Series batteries are designed to have a large amount of stored current discharged between charging sessions, with very heavy non-porous battery plates to withstand repeated major discharging and charging cycles (deep cycles). They are typically used where the battery is discharged to great extent and then recharged.
Q: ok im going off grid and will have my fridge and stove running on propane but im trying to figure out that at night i want to be able to run my 32 inch lcd tv a internet modem a playstation 3 and 2 laptops and a light or 2 and maybe a floor fan through solar power and i would like to be able run my tv and stuff up to 8 hours in to the night and so i just want to know how many batterys and solar panels i need or how many watts system do i need im running all this on one outlet now at home so i know its under 20 amps and i think i use about 000 watts an hour im not sure so thats why im asking i really need help with this i hope i dont need a $5,000 system thats crazy im only wanting to spend like a $000 please dont explain math figures or a bunch of complicated garbage to me i just want a straight answer on what i need to do to be able to do this thank you!
My guess is that you might discover everything concerning solar power at www.okorder .
Q: Can solar panels be installed on walls?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on walls. Wall-mounted solar panels are known as solar wall systems, and they are a viable option for generating electricity from the sun. These panels are typically installed vertically on the sides of buildings or other structures, allowing for efficient use of space.
Q: I'm curious, for those who have had solar panels installed on the rooves of their houses:How much did you pay? How much energy do the panels produce? Did it dramatically cut down on your electricity bill? Was it worth it? Thanks!
I say yes, I had a system put in a few months ago. I paid $6K and my utility paid $0K. I should break even in about 6 years. The system is guaranteed for 25 years, so I will have at least 9 years of free energy. I went from a bill of around $200 per month to under $20 in the summer. I will pay a little more in the winter months because less daylight, but I don't use as much energy in the winter. Each year electricity goes up an average of 5%, so while my neighbors have a larger bill each month, I'll be staying under $50 for a long time. Even without the rebate I would have a break even time of about 0 years, still 5 years of free energy.
Q: They have been around long enough to be cheaper. Unless they are made out of a natural material that is rare and hard to find, there is no reason why they should be so expensive. On another note, I think that all low power devices like cell phones and even laptops should have solar panels. Even if it is not enough to fully power the device for a long period of time, it will provide some electricity savings and with millions of people saving a little power adds up.
Photo okorder /... Notice it costs over $200 and it takes up a sizable amount of space. Plus you have to expose it to bright sun light. Over all this is not something the average consumer wants to spend money on or fuss with. If something is expensive, difficult or inconvenient to use then people won't use it. Just the basic economics of such a device limits its sales never mind its functionality and usability. Even if you made a small one buit into the cover to extend the battery you won't get much of an extension and you will increase the cost of your laptop. Consider how people shop, will they buy the more expensive laptop for a questionable amount of battery extension? Mass production can lower costs but in order to mass produce something you need a demand that will consume what you produce. But if no one wants the item because of the aforementioned issues than you can't justify mass producing the item. This is like the classic which came first Chicken or Egg problem, one doesn't happen without the other. Cost reduction doesn't happen without consumer demand. This is where tax incentives, subsidies, low cost loans and energy buyback contracts come into play in order to spur on demand and jump start mass production. You could also make electricity extremely expensive by taxing oil and carbon so that a Solar Cell becomes economically competitive to very expensive electricity. Problem with this option is the negative impact high energy costs have on economic activity. Just look at what happened a couple of summers ago when gas hit $4/gal. To spur on demand we need to incentives the use of Solar cells (and other alternative energy). This can be done through several means such as subsidies, tax incentives, low interest loans, energy buyback contracts etc...
Q: I have a home made 24 volt electric cart. It is powered by two 2Volt deep cycle batteries. Since the motor runs on 24 volts the batteries are wired in series to produce the 24 volts. I only have a 2 volt battery charger, but I also have two 2 volt solar panels. It is a pain having to unhook wires, rewire it, or charge them one at the time.HERE IS THE QUESTION REALLY... Can I wire the two 2 volt solar panels together in series (ie: negative to positive) then connect it to the existing 24 volt system and have it charge the batteries fine. I know basic wiring, but I know nearly nothing about solar panels, will it work fine? will it cause them to break? or short out?(additional info, the solar panels are only rated at 5 amps so it will not overcharge the batteries or anything)
If the panels are the same, there is no problem in putting them in series. If you examine the panels, they will be made up of about 36 identical cells in series. Ok, now you have 72 cells in series, fine if they are the same. You need (at a minimum) a diode in the line so that when it is dark, the panels do not draw current out the batteries (it wont be much but you might as well block it). You say the panels are rated 5 amps? Those are pretty good sized panels! Unless you have a charging regulator, I guarantee that they Will overcharge the batteries (unless the batteries are huge, like the size of a refrigerator). Did you maybe mean 5 watts? About a foot square? If so, the output is about 300mA (0.3 amps) which will not overcharge a battery as long as it is at least as large as a garden tractor battery. At a 300mA charge rate, it will take a longgg time to recharge.
Q: so i told my dad to buy solar panels and he wants to see how much money u can save we pay $00 and i dont want quot; You don't need solar panelshow much would my fmaily save?
I would suggest getting more info about solar panels, here's the stuff that could be helpful to you renewableenergyarticles.blogspot....
Q: Since plants have been populating this earth for the past 475 million years I think they have evolved to gain the most sun with their greenery. If scientists used heat sensors to find the hot spots of trees and trim all of the leaves that don't quot;providefor the plant, then maybe that trimmed tree could be used to become a solar quot;panelquot;. I believe that each individual leaf could be replaced by a small solar panel and the wood of the tree would be wiring that would root all of the solar panels to a generator.
From the vantage point of a scientist and an engineer, you have a whole host of problems to overcome. The mass of solar cells cannot be supported by most leaves much less allow the leaves to turn toward the sun as they naturally do. The wood and other structures of a tree are terrible conductors and wouldn't serve as efficient power transmitters. There are issues of damaging the health of the tree by interrupting the process of photosynthesis in favor of solar energy collection, and many other issues. However, I can tell you that solar power does use several principals that you have observed in trees. For example, solar collectors are almost always oriented to face toward the sun. Many adjust with the time of day and seasons to be optimally oriented to collect the sun's rays. Much like leaves in many plants are not static but change position to optimize their angle to the sun. Also, many solar cells are now designed with a membrane structure which offer several advantages. So you see many of your observations have found their way into practical application in solar power production.
Q: I was having a discussion with a friends about solar panels. He says that if there is a solar panel (sp) on the ground and a solar panel (sp2) high in the atmosphere (in the stratosphere) the difference in power output between sp and sp2 negligible. I said that there would be a large difference in power output because sp has all of the atmosphere to block the suns rays and sp2 has very little atmosphere because it is very high up (in the stratosphere) therefore more sun can get to the panel and more power is produced.who is correct? many thanks in advance, please leave sources if possible, for validity.
you are right , the solar painel higher in the atmosphere , gonna receive more solar warm , your friends are totaly wrong ,
Q: i wanted to buy solar panels but this guy told me one will just power one light bulb what i want to know is how much thay cost and is it true tat if more power leaves your house than goes in the power company has to send u a cheek
If you want to get money from the power company you will have to basically put in $0k to $20k worth of solar panels. Currently most solar panels that are available to home owners are not all that efficient. I currently have 3 that are 2 foot x 0 foot on my roof that follow the sun and they only power my water heater. Also some states will give you a tax rebate for installing solar power banks on your roof, mainly in the southwest.
