- Q: How much trouble would our roller rink have to go through to get the smoke detectors removed or deactivated in order to add a regular smoke machine effect to our lighting system? Is it possible to have them replaced with heat activated alarms?
- I think a lot of accidents happen because people are not paying attention because they are doing something else or not fully attentive, or because of an object in the road. My husband and I were behind a guy today who wrecked because he wasn't paying attention, drifted over a curb and then overcorrected and got scared, and instead of hitting the brake he slammed the accelerator and spun out. He ended up facing the other direction in a ditch. To prevent accidents, people should: 1. Not talk or text on their cell phones while driving. 2. Not drive when they are tired or on meds, drugs or alcohol. 3. Seat belt their kids so they don't climb all over the car distracting the driver. In addition, construction sites should be clearly marked with road signs, and loose animals should be captured and put where they can't run in the road.

- Does your alarm still monitor your house? If not, find the power wire that runs the alarm. It should be wired to an AC adapter that's connected to an AC outlet close to the alarm panel box. Then, disconnect the battery from the system. That should stop all your beeps and alarms and what not. If the alarm IS being monitored by an alarm company, call a certified technician. There is probably something wrong with the system's motherboard.
- Q: I have done everything I can for Home defense: gate, fence, dog, lights, burglar bars and doors, guns, you name it. But I would like to have cameras on the front yard, the back yard and the entrance to the front and back door and the hall in case I get a home invasion. - What kind of alarm? Different alarm has different ways to disarm it. Some are done with the remote, some has a hidden switch. Some can be set to active or passive. Active is always On, when you take the key off the ignition and lock the car, the alarm senses it and arms itself. Passive, you always have to manualy press the remote to arm the alarm. Remove the battery again, wait about a few minutes, then connect again. Locate the switch (sometimes called valet switch) and press and hold it while you put key in ignition and turn it on (not start) wait for about 5 seconds and alarm will be turned off. If you want to permanently disable the alarm, then just remove the fuse for the alarm unit, just make sure it was not triggered before you do this, because if it was triggered then the kill switch is also active (on) and you wont be able to start your car.

- I am having a hard time believing that your alarm system is so generic it does not have a brand, much less a make or model. Perhaps i can tell you where to look: On the circuit board inside the box where everything is wired holds the answers to what type of system you have. Sometimes on the inside of the door of the box is a sticker with the wiring diagram that reveals the make and model of alarm system. What i am getting at is this, keypads for alarm systems are not universal. You will not be able to replace the knackered one without knowing the info inside of that box. Also, if you tell me what is written inside of the box, i can find your keypad for you and tell you the part number you need and maybe even a site to buy it from. let me know.
