- Q: I am having my contractor install a gas powered fire pit in my backyard and am supplying the material. My question is can I use schedule 40 stainless pipe and stainless fittings instead of the standard galvanized pipe? - There is an electrical part of the lock cylinder for those cars. It is part of the factory anti-theft system. Some lock cylinders come with the switch attached to the new part. Others have to be transferred from the old part. Are you sure this happened.

- The door probably isn't locking because the latch doesn't engage the strike plate. Often times, this is due to the door sagging. Try tightening the hinges, that may lift the door back into the right position. If that doesn't work, kneel down and look at the latch as you close the door. Watch where the latch hits the strike plate in relation to the hole in the strike. If it is coming in at the right height, it is often a problem with the door not coming in far enough. Weatherstrip may be a factor on some doors, or the door may be warped, preventing the latch from fully engaging. Once you know where the problem is, you can try adjusting the strike plate or enlarge the hole in the strike plate using Dreml.
