- either your monitor supports vga, hdmi, or dvi. u will have to use either one of those. which ever kind of system you use if it goes hand in hand with the kind of input you have on your monitor you will be able to use it. for usage of component video or antenna on our monitor you are gonna need a tv tuner box. i watch direct tv on my monitor using one of these. you can get an ok one at about $60. the best ones are more expensive. only difference is resolution support. (better picture quality)

- are you seeing a picture before it goes off? make sure the DVI or VGA cable is securely fitted into the monitor and the computer go to the menu and check that its power saving timer isn't set too low hope this helps
- Q: I am using an acer AL 1706 LCD monitor and am running it at its native resolution (1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz). I have tried using both the standard microsoft plug and play monitor driver as well as the specific driver for this monitor (although it always says that it is for the al 1716 after I install it). I find that overall image clarity is great, but the text, expecially in web browsers tends to look slightly out of focus (I have tried using cleartype, standard smoothing, and no smoothing). This has been giving me some pretty bad eye strain after using the computer for 20 minutes or more. Does anybody have any ideas as to what the issue is and how to fix it?
- LCD is bad for text reading. Even with higher quality LCD monitor you will still have same problem. It's the hardware problem, I doubt you can find a satisfied solution. Here is something you can try to improve a little: 1. turn on the text mode if you lcd support when you read text. 2. goto your video card driver, find the custom resolution control panel, swith the timing to GTF or DMT. See if you like the new effect. Some people say it makes big different. hope it helps and good luck.

- LCD monitors or Liquid Crystal Display monitors are replacing the old CRT or Cathode Ray Tube screens and are far superior in a vast majority of applications. There are several advantages of LCD Monitors over the old CRT Displays. While LCD Monitors are compact and lightweight and consume less power approximately 20W whereas the CRT monitors are bulky and heavy consuming upto 150W. An LCD Monitor produces perfectly sharp images with perfect image geometry whereas in CRT the sharpness is limited and it tends to blur more at high brightness and with the aging of the tubes and suffers from geometric distortions. LCD monitors have a consistent tonal scale and can display text with excellent contrast whereas the CRT monitors display strong bright areas which can cause other regions of the picture to dim and also has poor text contrast because of limited bandwidth. LCD monitors do not normally flicker whereas a faint flicker can always be observed in a CRT monitor.
- Q: I just bought an ASUS MS246H LCD monitor, and the specs states that it has integrated stereo speakers. However, I plug in my HDMI cable and there is no sound.There is a hole next to the HDMI plug, and it's apparently for earphones. Is this what it meant by integrated stereo speakers? I have to plug my speakers in?I thought integrated speakers meant that there should be sound coming out of the monitor itself.?
- First try checking your hdmi settings on your computer to make sure it's set to output audio through the HDMI cable, to do that go into speakers on the taskbar, than go to mixer and check the output selection and change it to HDMI, if it still doesn't play sound through the monitor than it most likely doesn't support sound through HDMI and you'l have to use the 3.5mm jack.
