Q:i currently have a samsung 700DF (dyna flat) monitor with a .20mm dot pitch and i play alot of pc games like lost planet, gears of war pc, battlefield 2142 with everything set to max on these games with a asus geforce 9600gt TOP (overclocked edition) so would i benifit with a lcd screen
Actually no. The only benefits you will have by upgrading to a LCD are the ability to view HDCP copy protected DVD (and BlueRay if you have a BlueRay reader on your computer) movies at 1080p if you get a 24 LCD, size and weight. CRTs do some things that LCDs just can't do. CRTs response time is Zero ms. CRT has a refresh rate that is adjustable to a higher value than all common LCDs and most ultra-high end commercial LCDs. CRTs can change resolution and maintain optimal picture quality. LCDs have to be run at their native resolution for the optimal picture. A high end CRT is still what most perfectionists in the video and photo arenas use for editing. I still use one when I want the absolute best from my photo editing. If you want to spend a lot of time watching DVD and Blue Ray format movies on your monitor get a 24 LCD.
Q:I want a 24-26 TV or LCD monitor for use with an xbox 360 and PC - both HDMI so x2 HDMI is needed. Resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD; 1080p) would be nice with 24FPS and 100Hz support and a quick response rate needed! Speakers would be good but optional.Any ideas? THX!
you dont specify a budget, but this is what i would go for. i've got the same one but without the tv tuner and its excellent. the res is 1920x1200 so its actually a bit higher than HD for the pc. i rang overclockers and asked them if a tv would be as good and they said no as the panel is a lot sharper on dedicated monitor. and this ones got a tv tuner anyway so its win win. speakers are a bit poo tho, but they always are on flat screens.
Q:Can I get duel monitors working with an s-video out to a LCD monitor for my desktop?
Ideally yes, but you will not be happy with the performance.
Q:I have a 22 widescreen Acer LCD computer monitor that has 1680*1050 resolution. The monitor has a VGA and DVI-D inputs and also has/supports HDCP.
That is what you want. It doesn't matter what kind of graphics card you have. You plug the single end into the back of your computer, and you plug your monitor into one slot on the double side, and get another VGA cable and run it from the other slot on the double side to your HDTV.
Q:HI,i need to buy a monitor, so i was thinking that if i can use a LCD TV as monitor, would be great, so i want to that connect LDC TV with computer via HDMI how will be the clarity? i am an architect, so work on CAD and max. will the TV clear as monitor or? witch tv do u suggest?
You might not like my answer, but I don't think a TV is a great choice for computer monitors. The maximum resolution of any TV is 1920 x 1080 and some as low as 1280 x 720, while high quality 28 and 30 LCD monitors can go as high as 2560 x 1600. They will run about the same price at that size: ~$1K. Unless your screen will be 6' in front of you, the only thing you'll end up accomplishing with a screen that size is moving your head from left-to-right more often. I talked a buddy of mine out of this same decision and he's happy I did. He bought a 24 Samsung monitor (1920 x 1200) for $350 and loves it. You might even want to consider dual-screening 2 x 22 or 2 x 24 for a MUCH bigger workspace (but more head movement :-) ) Of course if you can also use your TV for more standard purposes, you might want to just get the TV.
Q:I have been living in China for five years and in that five years I have acquired MANY stuff cuz of the massive price difference between China and Europe. I have two 28 inch Full HD (1920x1200) TFT LCD monitors, brand and model is: Hannsg HZ281 which I would like to transport to Europe with air cargo. I only have the original packageing for one which is new but for the other I have no packageing. The original packageing onthe new one is very sturdy btw, on the outside there is a hard cardboard box and the screen is fixed in the middle with this white foamy and hard thing (sorry I dont know the name in english) but I think polyurethane or something like that my main concern is that I dont think the cargo area will be heated cuz there will be no passangers there so temps will get below freezing I assume. Is that harmful to my screens? Any advice to how to wrap or package the new one better if needed? Any advice on how to package the old one for which I have not the original box? Thank you.
I don't think it'll be a problem. Monitors are shipped all over the world in air cargo all the time. I've even had LCD monitors left in my car overnight with temps down to -17 degrees Fahrenheit where I live, so I think you're fairly safe about the temps. As for packaging, the original packaging for the one should be good enough, for the other make sure that there's plenty of cushioned padding around it and a few inches between it and the box sides to keep it safe. Double boxing it (box within another padded box) will provide the safest packaging.
Q:Hay just wanted to ask u folks if u could tell me what kinda specs. to look for in a monitor for extreme gaming?
2 Ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio. I don't like lcd's for gaming myself, even the very best gaming ones. I'd just stick with CRT for now. EDIT: Looking at your monitor of choice's specs now5 ms isn't the best for gaming, you still might notice a little ghosting, especially if you're playing fast paced FPS's. The contrast ratio is decent.
Q:Do you need to erase the LCD?
Liquid crystal display and not on the electron emission electron tube to hit the screen light, no firing current, not affected by magnetic fields, not to be demagnetized. But the LCD products have built-in rectifier, a strong magnetic field may have an influence, so that the rectifier output abnormal interference, and display effect.
Q:i just bought a acer lcd monitor. But i want to know the hours lifespan of the acer lcd monitor.and will the monitor last longer if i leave it on and let it automatically turn off or if i turn it off manually
It will last longer if it is set up to turn off or go into power save mode after the computer has been idle for a while as opposed to being on 24/7. Most LCD panels have a MTBF of well over 10 years of continuous use. The part that goes bad over time is the backlighting, which dims over time and can be down to 1/2 brightness after 30-50,000 hours on newer monitors. This means that at 8 hours per day of usage it will be noticeably dimmer in 10 years, however you can compensate by increasing the brightness setting when this eventually happens. My LCDs from 2003 are running just fine after 5 years of 12 hours+ per day and I bet they can take another 5.
Q:I have a wide screen LCD computer screen and was thinking about converting it into a tv screen for of course watching tv and also playing my Xbox 360 on it. I wanna use the whole screen, since it's pixels are 1280 x 800. I don't care if it does HD, I just wanna take advantage of the fact that it's wide screen. What products should I be looking at? I wanna do this afford-ably so let's not try to break the bank. I already have the monitor and the cable service.
