Most kitchen base cabinets are 24 inches deep, where bathroom cabinets can be 14, 16, 18, etc. If you use the kitchen cabinet, do you have a vanity ready for this? It would be a huge sink. If you're remodeling, I'd suggest going to check out samples of bathroom vanity cabinets. The depth of the vanity varies and cultured tops can be any size. They are always on sale at Home Depot. Consider something that is not deep and something you can live with. Another option would be to consider a pedestal sink and these can be very shallow in depth. You should consider doing some customizing since you will be both using this. My wife is 5'3 using a pedestal sink and uses the mirror just fine. I had a mirror cabinet mounted 3 lower than standard and she's happy with the results. If you have that extra kitchen cabinet, don't use it in the bathroom. It will work better in the garage. It will save you grief in the long run because as you get older, you won't want to lean over the sink to get to the mirror.

- Totally. I had a custom woodworker (cabinet maker) build mine for exactly that reason. Bathroom was small, and I wanted to maximize space. All the standard options wasted a precious inch or four. He was able to build INTO the wall for a specialty deep medicine cabinet, too! Also, he did a one piece unit connected to the medicine cabinet for storage over the toilet. We did vanity DRAWERS instead of two doors, and he built them around the plumbing pipes. It worked out really well. And, I had a double outlet built inside the medicine cabinet for electric toothbrushes, etc. ETA: He did the counter tops too. He was sitting next to me checking out sink & faucet dimensions online when we were designing the project to get every inch and make sure it all worked together.

- Q:I am remodeling my master bathroom and I have already ripped out the old vanity and I'm about to put in the new one. The old vanity and top appeared to be of normal length (60'/61'), like the new pair I picked up at OKorders (I did a quick measure and it looked close, so I assumed it was of standard size). However, the geniuses who built my home built the space for the vanity (between a regular wall and a half-wall beside the toilet) exactly 60' wide. So while the vanity will squeeze in, the vanity top won't. I am thinking I will have to end up removing the half-wall, but I want to do as little work as possible. Is there a way to shave an inch off the wall? Anybody think of any ideas? BTW, the vanity top is a marble top, so I doubt I can shave an inch off that.....Thanks in advance.
- if this is my bathroom i will just cut the drywall on the both sides of the vanity and slide the granite top in or you can call a company that install granite and they can cut it for you for extra $50-60
