- Q: Can ground cover be used to create a natural mulch?
- Yes, ground cover can be used to create a natural mulch. Ground cover plants, such as low-growing shrubs or spreading perennials, can provide a protective layer over the soil, helping to retain moisture, suppress weed growth, and regulate soil temperature. This natural mulch formed by ground cover plants can also contribute organic matter to the soil as it decomposes, enriching the soil's fertility.
- Q: ive had my septum pierced since nov 7th and i want to wear a plastic ring in it, is it healed enough?
- it depends. if you think it is healed enough, then switch!
- Q: This is the most depressing article I've read in awhile. What is preventing us from recycling a larger volume of plastic? Is it not cost effective? Is that whats holding us back?
- Well as already mentioned most plastics can only be recycled a few times, some not at all, whilst others are designed to bio degrade not recycle. PE plastics can be recycled 4-5 times, then make excellent fuel replacement for power stations (only giving off water and CO2 nasty but nothing worse less, than CO2 than wood of the same weight). but how do companies know how often something is recycled? Also often plastic is used in Food and Chemical packaging. Generally it is safest to use Virgin plastic. Before this is then recycled it must be non hazardous and that's expensive. We could help by making sure all recyclable plastic is clean before we send it off, and keep asking manufacturers for goods made with recycled products.

- Q: How do nursery trays help in reducing the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides?
- Nursery trays help in reducing the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides by providing a controlled environment for plants to grow. This reduces the need for chemicals as the trays protect the plants from pests and weeds. Additionally, the use of nursery trays allows for better nutrient management and watering practices, promoting healthier plants that are more resistant to pest and disease attacks, further minimizing the need for chemical interventions.
- Q: How do nursery trays help in reducing the risk of transplant shock in fragile plant species?
- Nursery trays provide a controlled and protected environment for fragile plant species, reducing the risk of transplant shock. The trays allow for proper root development, as they provide adequate space for root growth and prevent root disturbance during transplanting. Additionally, nursery trays regulate moisture levels, ensuring the plants receive the right amount of water. The trays also shield the plants from extreme weather conditions and protect them from pests and diseases. Overall, nursery trays create a conducive environment for the optimal growth and survival of fragile plant species, minimizing the chances of transplant shock.

- Q: Can nursery trays be used for starting bulb seedlings?
- Yes, nursery trays can be used for starting bulb seedlings. The trays provide a suitable environment for the seedlings to develop and can help with organization and easy transplanting. However, it is important to ensure that the trays have adequate drainage to prevent waterlogging and promote healthy growth. Additionally, bulb seedlings may require a deeper container as they develop, so transplanting into larger pots or containers may be necessary at a later stage.
- Q: Can agricultural plastic be used for microgreen production?
- Yes, agricultural plastic can be used for microgreen production. Agricultural plastic, such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or low-density polyethylene (LDPE), can be used as a growing medium or to cover trays in microgreen production. It helps retain moisture, provides a clean growing surface, and allows for easy handling and transportation of the microgreens.
- Q: What are some ground cover options for dry shade?
- Some ground cover options for dry shade include vinca minor (periwinkle), Pachysandra terminalis (Japanese spurge), Lamium maculatum (dead nettle), and Ajuga reptans (bugleweed). These plants are known for their ability to tolerate low light and drought conditions, making them ideal choices for shady areas with minimal moisture.
