Product description

A solar cell, or photovoltaic cell (in very early days also termed "solar battery"[1] – a denotation which nowadays has a totally different meaning, see here), is an electrical device that converts the energy of lightdirectly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect, which is a physical and chemical phenomenon.

Solar cells are described as being photovoltaic irrespective of whether the source is sunlight or an artificial light. They are used as a photodetector (for example infrared detectors), detecting light or other electromagnetic radiation near the visible range, or measuring light intensity.

Q: Can solar panels be used for air conditioning?
Yes, solar panels can be used for air conditioning. By converting sunlight into electricity, solar panels can power air conditioning units, reducing reliance on the grid and providing a renewable energy solution for cooling purposes. However, the efficiency and capacity of solar panels may vary depending on factors such as the size of the system, available sunlight, and the energy demands of the air conditioning unit.
Q: Are there any tax credits available for solar panel installation?
Yes, there are tax credits available for solar panel installation. The federal government offers a solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which allows homeowners to deduct a portion of the cost of installing a solar energy system from their federal taxes. Additionally, some states and local governments may offer additional tax incentives or rebates for solar panel installation.
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering an airport or transportation hub?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power an airport or transportation hub. Many airports and transportation hubs around the world have already started using solar panels to generate renewable energy and reduce their carbon footprint. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or in open areas surrounding the airport or hub to generate electricity. This clean and sustainable energy source can be used to power various operations, including lighting, heating, cooling, and even charging electric vehicles. Additionally, excess energy generated by solar panels can be stored in batteries for use during low sunlight periods or at night. Overall, solar panels are a viable and eco-friendly option for powering airports and transportation hubs.
Q: Can solar panels be used to power a mining operation?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a mining operation. Solar energy can be harnessed and converted into electricity through photovoltaic panels. This electricity can then be used to power various mining processes such as crushing, grinding, transportation, and ventilation systems. However, the suitability of solar panels for powering a mining operation would depend on factors such as the required energy demand, availability of sunlight, space for installation, and the feasibility of integrating solar power with existing mining infrastructure.
Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of lightning activity?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of lightning activity. However, it is important to install proper lightning protection systems and grounding measures to minimize the risk of damage or electrical surges caused by lightning strikes.
Q: can you buy single solar panels say to power a washing machine fridge etc.if so where can i buy them from

Q: Can solar panels be used for charging electric scooters?
Yes, solar panels can be used for charging electric scooters. The energy generated by the solar panels can be stored in batteries and then used to charge the electric scooter. This provides a sustainable and renewable energy source for powering electric scooters.
Q: how to make electricty using solar panels or wind generator

Q: Can solar panels be used on vehicles?
Yes, solar panels can be used on vehicles. They can be installed on the roofs or hoods of cars, trucks, and even boats to harness solar energy and charge the vehicle's battery or power various electrical systems. This helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels and make vehicles more sustainable and energy-efficient.
Q: I am looking to run 2 basic shoplights, each with 2- 32 watt T8 flourecent tubes for 6 hours a day for an indoor garden. Location WI.
Lets say, for a simple approximation, that the 45 watt panel produces 45 watts /3 of the time and nothing the rest of the time. Each day, this will produce 8 hours times 45 watts = 360 watt hours. Also assume the battery charge controller and inverter waste half of that power, leaving 80 watt hours per day. If you use compact fluorescent lamps, that would allow you to burn 80 watts worth for an hour every day, or 90 watts for 2 hours, etc. That is a lot of light for a shed. You might consider using much less efficient tungsten filament lamps, but eliminate the inverter and choose low voltage (automotive) lamps that can run directly across the battery and lower the total cost, but give you only about half the light times time. The main advantage of the inverter might be that it would allow you to use small power tools or appliances in the shed. -- Regards, John Popelish
