- Asbestos does not drip through the ceiling. Asbestos is a mineral fiber used in insulation. It is not a liquid. What makes it dangerous to us is when it is dry and airborne. It is breathed in and gets caught in the lungs. In the US everyone has to obey asbestos rules but I doubt that what you are seeing is asbestoes. The first thing that I would do is ask the maintenence man what the stuff is.
