- Q: also...what kind of glue would i need to glue it to the bottom of a skimboard?
- Polystyrene plastic is sold in sheet form at many hobby and model shops. Evergreen is the most common brand name - available from thicknesses of 0.005 and up - cost about $3-5 for a sheet 4 x 10. The glue you use depends on both materials being put together, and also the weather and forces that will be applied to it. If both are poly styrene an acetone-based solvent suchs as Testor's or Ambroid will dissolve the plastic and thus weld it together. If theyv are differnet materials - (what is a skimboard made from and where does it go?) - I would seek some advice form someone in that hobby.
- Q: My house is 50 years old and is lacking in insulation in the garage ceiling. Above the garage are bedrooms. Currently there is 3 of fiberglass with an aluminum vapor barrier within a 2x10 joist. I'd like to put R-30 fiberglass in the cavities but the 25' rolls of insulation are unfaced and the faced R-30 rolls are only in 48 batts. 4' sections are easier to put up but that is not a concern of mine.
- Yes you need the moisture barrier and it also helps with the hollow sound of the laminate. when you go to put down the barrier make sure to keep it a little long at the walls, make sure seams are tight and taped together with duct tape it will help keep out the moisture. after the floor is installed go back and trim the edges of the barrier but keep enough to sort of tuck under the edge of the wall, if you have moisture coming in you want it to go under the barrier not on top it will cause the floor to mold, expand, warp etc.
- Q: Are plastic sheets suitable for electrical insulation?
- Yes, plastic sheets are suitable for electrical insulation. They are widely used in various electrical applications due to their non-conductive properties, high dielectric strength, and durability. Plastic sheets provide a barrier against electrical current, preventing the risk of electrical shocks and short circuits. They also offer resistance to moisture, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations, making them an ideal choice for insulating electrical components and wiring.
- Q: Are acrylic plastic sheets flexible and cuttable?
- I worked with 1/8 Plexiglas, and I cut it with my scroll saw. I needed to use ultra-fine saw teeth to do the job. Two problems happened. First, when the saw blade was set at too high a speed, it melted the Plexiglas. This also happened if I did not move the Plexiglas fast enough. I had to have the top vibration clamp fairly close to the Plexiglas to stop it from jumping up. Before I realized this was necessary, I split 2 pieces. My project was see through drawer fronts for merchandise display. I had to predrill the holes for the screws to mount the fronts into the wood sides. I used masking tape on the area that was to be drilled to protect the Plexiglas surface. I still had breakage. Next time I do a project of this type, I will use thicker acrylic.
- Q: What are we up to?
- Are you wrapping the toilet seat again with plastic, pouring syrup on it adding the feathers?
- Q: Are skateboard novices, small fish boards, plastic boards and maple planks different?
- If you're looking for texture, I recommend maple, but now good plastic boards are very good. They're better than maple in elasticity and toughness. If you're new, I suggest buying a cheaper plastic sheet.
- Q: Are plastic sheets resistant to scratching from abrasive materials?
- Yes, plastic sheets are generally resistant to scratching from abrasive materials due to their durable and tough nature.
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for greenhouse benches or shelves?
- Yes, plastic sheets can be used for greenhouse benches or shelves. Plastic sheets are commonly used in greenhouse construction due to their durability, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. They can be easily shaped and cut to fit the desired dimensions for benches or shelves, providing a smooth and easy-to-clean surface for plants and storage. Additionally, plastic sheets are resistant to moisture and can withstand various environmental conditions commonly found in greenhouses, making them a suitable choice for benches or shelves.
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for automotive windshields?
- No, plastic sheets cannot be used for automotive windshields. Automotive windshields are typically made from laminated glass, which offers superior strength, durability, and optical clarity compared to plastic.
- Q: Recently I have been working on a beer pong table. What I really want is the cups to not topple over when they get hit by the ping pong ball. So I have seen an idea where you can cut circular cup holes into a piece of plexiglass or glass like sheet and slide the cups into them to prevent them from falling over.My question to you is where would I find plexiglass or a glass like sheet?
- You can buy plastic sheets that are used for window panes lots of places. If not at Home Depot, then at a company that sells window replacements. I have purchased sheets of plastic.
