- Q: I have a collapsible ar stock that i havent moved in a few years and i tried to adjust it and it wont budge, the lever wont allow me to pull it to move the stock, any ideas?
- 1 Pull the adjusting lever out (gently) as far as you canThis is the opposite direction you usually compress it to adjustSpray everything that moves with penetrating oilThis will release the stock from the buffer tube 2 Pull off the stock while the lever is pulled 3 Clean and lube the detent rail of the buffer tubeGalvanic corrosion of the steel plunger and the aluminum tube can be a problem4 Spray the actual metal part you see the lever actuate with some sort of penetrating oilWork the lever by compressing and extending the lever fully up until you see it move freely 5 If you can't get it to work, just replace the stock assembly with either a commercial or military buffer tube compatible sockThey are so cheap, that it doesn't pay to take all day to mess with it.

- You should go for a run or read a really good bookIf you can't find one go to a bookstore or the mallYou could also be productive by cleaning or whateverHave fun! -HD

- Q: I just bought a used Lund 14' aluminum and found a used Honda 9.9 4-strokeThe Honda is a long shaft 20quot; and the Lund has a 15quot; transomI know this is probably not ideal, however will it work? Would I need a jack-plate or will there be some wiggle room in mounting the engine? Thanks
- It will work, but your shallow drive will be 5 deeper, and your full down position will be 5 closer to the bottomThe additional leverage will lift the front alarmingly from starting unless you put weight up forward, such as the fuel tank - so be aware of that, and you will probably be a couple of knots slower than an identical engine with a short shaftIt is not safe to try and mount the engine higher on the transomYou should not expect blinding performance from that engine on that boat - rather it will plane out with one, and possibly two smaller adults but will start to be a bit marginal at that load if you have some extra gear or a head wind evenOne up you might get into the mid teens speed wise, still these are reasonable engines with not many vices as long as they were serviced regularlyThermostat must be fitted, the lower cylinder can go out of round on the earlier ones - if they are flogged and not serviced they get fairly sluggish and a compression check should be done to check, as continuous WOT throttle settings at can burn exhaust valvesThe earlier ones seemed to have a weak yet reliable spark and need the plug gap set close (I think .8 mm from memory - check that.) per the manual, and they did have a reputation for salting up if not well flushed out regularlyCam belt should be replaced if perished - for that you need the manual for sureWhen water pump impellors failed they tended to take out the pump housing also, the water pipe grommets also need changing to keep water pressure while trolling or idling and they did like to shed the vanes when the impellor fails - generally you need to get them out of the pipes and block evenI still like them, but they are basically the same 222 cc engine as the 8 with an extra 500 rpm, which may explain why they don't like continuous flat out running - the slightest fueling drop and you are ultra-lean.
- Q: I saw the one i want in a truck magazineI think it was a Sport truck magazine but cant rememberI wish i could remember the brand name of itI think it was chromeIt looked like it fit similar to the factory round shaped one but had two tubes instead of oneThe tubes came out of the round intake mount looking similar to a V shape two filters could be seen of courseI hope someone can help me.
- autozone has the make your own intake and they have a piece that splits one pipe into 2 so you can pretty much run the piles how ever you want tothey have a lot of diffrent angled elbows, and diffrent length pipes good luck
- Q: i made some (FIMO) polymer clay miniatures that are about the size of a marbleis it okay to bake them in a Ziplock bag? (so the oven wont get messy, and the ziplock bag will collect the residue)and how long should i bake them for? they're really small, so i think 260F/130C is too hot for them??Thanks:)
- Don't use the plastic bag, line an old cookie sheet with aluminum foil and bake them on thatI usually bake at a few degrees lower and a few minutes shorter than the package suggests, especially for tiny piecesIf you cook it too long or too hot, there will be crackingIf you don't cook it long enough, it will stay pliable when cooled To be sure, bake a piece of scrap clay roughly the same size as the pieces you are going to bakeIf it looks good after it's cooled, you have the green light to bake your mini works of artIf not, test again at another time or tempHope this helps;)
- Q: Does it matter what type of tube I use? I've been recommended cardboardDoes the thickness matter? I'd prefer to use a pbc pipe. What would be the best materials to use for a top notch and moderately inexpensive telescope?
- Fiberglass tubes are strong and light, but a bit expensiveSteel or aluminum tubes are okay but transmit heat into the light path from outsideCardboard tubes are fine if sealed from moisturePVC tubes might be fine but can distort from heating or gravityAlignment of optics must be maintainedPlywood shell tubes are used with success, as are thin wood boxes of various shapesYou can buy different tubing for scopes from various sources on lineA lot depends upon size of scopeAll of the above are fine for up to 12 inch scopesLarger ones are better if done in a structure of thin aluminum tubing.
- Q: We got our cat when I was 6 months pregnant, and she's slept with usNow we have a 3 week old son who she thinks is a toy.and I don't want to risk her pawing at him or sleeping on him when I'm sleeping. So when no one can watch her we put her out in the porch, its where her food water and litter box areBut she always scratches to get in! She does it loudly and it sounds like nails on a chalkboardThe porch isn't heated and on cool nights I let her inside, with the door open just enough for her to get inIf i close my bedroom door she scratches that tooI've tried to just ignore her, and hope she'll go lie down but no luckI know the baby is new to her and she doesn't understand why she can't come sleep with us anymore and I feel very sad for her. She's not allowed in the Babys room at all, and will often ignore it even of the door is open.but the baby sleeps on a bassinet next to our bed.Tips?.suggestions.?
- They hate aluminum foilYou could try laying a couple of sheets on the floor outside of the doorShe won't want to stand on top of it to scratch at the door.
