- Q: In terms of efficiency and cost, what is the best solar panel. I am limited in the number of panels I can put up (probably 6-8) so they must be efficient, but cost is important also. What about these panels that can collect a wider range of light frequency?
- your initial outlay for a solar panel is very large in terms of output.......somewhere around $4 a watt......ie you want a panel that will run a 00 watt lightbulb? $400.00 please. enough panels to collect enough energy to recharge a battery bank to run the house overnight? well, I've been doing a lot of research for my condo project in St Thomas and it comes out to 0-20,000 US $ for a bedroom apartment. Now, after about ten years you have made your investemnt back.... and there are a lot of government rebate programs that lower the cost.. what I have found is solar is nice, but depending on how far north you live you may only have 4 usable hours of light a day. you may very well be better with a wind generator.wind blows all the time after all...Bergy and SouthWest Windpower make two good small home units...start there
- Q: Hi, I am starting to get curious about the pros/cons of installing solar panels - has anyone done it and is it worth it?
- If okorder and I mention them only because they did a retro fit on my Uncle's house in the Florida Keys and a smaller scale system for my in laws outside of Chicago. Both my Uncle and In Laws really are enjoying the cost savings that they are getting each month from their respective systems, and both said that Sun's initial costs were QUITE low. Be sure to have the blessing of your local building zoning departments before installing the panels as some municipalities take issue with solar panels. Also make sure that your roof is strong enough to withstand the weight of not only the panels, but the bracing. Good Luck.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on golf courses?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on golf courses. In fact, many golf courses have already embraced solar energy by installing panels on their clubhouses, maintenance buildings, or even on the course itself. The large open spaces and ample sunlight available on golf courses make them suitable for solar panel installations, providing an environmentally friendly source of renewable energy.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a university?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a university. By installing a sufficient number of solar panels on campus buildings or in open spaces, universities can generate a significant amount of clean and renewable energy. This can help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, decrease electricity costs, and contribute to a more sustainable campus. Additionally, advancements in solar technology have made it more efficient and affordable, making it a viable option for universities looking to transition to renewable energy sources.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on schools or universities?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on schools or universities. In fact, many educational institutions around the world are increasingly adopting solar energy systems to reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and provide hands-on learning opportunities for students about renewable energy. Installing solar panels on schools and universities can not only help them become more sustainable but also serve as a powerful educational tool for students and the broader community.
- Q: Pretty much, can solar panel's support the entire houses electrical needs generally, because I know sometimes the owner's can sell unused electricity back, any ideas or any ideas on how much the average home uses in kWh
- it depens where you live(north or south)how many solar panel you have, what grade solar panels, how many rechargeable batteries etc.
- Q: Also, what's the solar panel's rate of producing electricity?
- Natural gas is stored energy- once you use it up it's gone. Solar panels make energy for decades. Thin film solar is around 0% while crystalline silicone might be around 25%.
- Q: how much power is generated with solar panels? also please give me links for that information.and how much would the costs be for this alternative energy source?
- If you put 'solar world statistics' into a search engine, you will discover that there are many statistics that are being heavily contested. Picking up the truth from among hype is the task. Solar panels typically have a rated maximum output of about 0 watts per sq metre. But actual delivery to grids of kWh would point to a number closer to 4 watts / sq M. on a 24 hour basis. Grid management is thus cautious about yield claims when history points to only /8 of rated maximum output. There may be some inappropriate expectations, when a solar roof is first powering the building, and only selling excess to the grid.
- Q: I am planning to run a couple of dc motors on solar current. I have a couple of 450mA 4V, 200mA .5V, 00mA 9V solar panels with me. I need to run a pair of .5A 9V motors. Suggest me a circuit along with other equipments I might require. For your info, I am trying to build a solar powered drone / UAV
- I don't think it is enough solar power. Your motor requires .5A x 9V = 3.5 watts. The solar cells are .450A x 4V x 2ea. = 3.6 watts, .2A x .5V = .3 watts, .A x 9V = .9 watts total solar = 4.8 watts. The problem with connecting the cells in series to get the right voltage, like the two 4V cells in series with the .5 volt cell (total 9.5 volts) is that the .5 volt cell limits the maximum current to only 0.2A. If you paralleled that with the 9V cell, you would get 9 volts at 0.2 + 0. = 0.3A, too low to operate the motor at its design current and voltage. The best you could do is put the two 4V cells in series, and in parallel with the 9V cell (a blocking diode might be a good idea, but probably not required for such a small array). That way you get 8 volts at 0.55 amps.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of dust?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of dust. However, it is important to note that the efficiency of solar panels may be affected by the accumulation of dust on their surface. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help mitigate any potential decrease in performance caused by dust build-up.
