- Q: Can solar panels be used for powering remote monitoring systems?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power remote monitoring systems. Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight and can charge batteries or directly power devices. This renewable energy source is ideal for remote locations where access to the electrical grid is limited or unavailable. Solar panels can provide a reliable and sustainable power solution for remote monitoring systems, ensuring continuous operation without the need for frequent battery replacement or reliance on fossil fuels.
- Q: How do solar panels affect the roof's lifespan?
- Solar panels can actually extend the lifespan of a roof. They act as a protective layer, shielding the roof from harsh weather conditions and reducing direct exposure to sunlight. This helps to prevent deterioration and can ultimately prolong the roof's lifespan.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on commercial buildings?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on commercial buildings. In fact, many businesses and organizations are increasingly opting for solar panel installations to reduce their energy costs and environmental impact. By harnessing sunlight and converting it into electricity, solar panels provide a sustainable and renewable source of power for commercial operations.
- Q: How much does it cost to replace a solar panel?
- The cost to replace a solar panel can vary depending on factors such as the type, size, and quality of the panel, as well as any additional installation costs. On average, the cost can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per panel. It is recommended to consult with a professional solar installer or company for an accurate estimate based on your specific needs.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of noise pollution?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of noise pollution. Noise pollution does not directly affect the functioning of solar panels as they rely on sunlight to generate electricity. However, it is important to ensure that the panels are installed securely and protected from any potential physical damage caused by excessive noise.

- Q: Thinking about getting a solar panel installed but i'm worried about getting the govt. rebates. There is a Federal Tax credit and a State of Florida rebate and i'm wondering what the time frame is for getting the rebates. Has anyone gotten a solar panel installed recently that could give me more info. Thanks!
- Do not count on getting the rebate soon or if at all. You should get on the list and wait until the funds are released. Good luck. Summary: Note: There is currently a waiting list for rebates from the Solar Energy Incentives Program. This program has received $5 million in federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). This funding will be used to award rebates to some of the systems that are on the waiting list. The state has applied for an additional $9.4 million in federal funding for this rebate program. Systems applying for the rebate at the present time will be placed on the waiting list. If additional federal funded is received, the approved applications will be awarded rebates based on the order in which they were received. FY 2009-200 is the last year of the solar rebate program and the last year the program could be funded under current authorizing statute. Florida's Solar Energy System Incentives Program was established in June 2006 (SB 888) to provide financial incentives for the purchase and installation of solar energy systems from July , 2006, through June 20, 200. A total of $2.5 million was available for FY 2006-2007; $3.5 million was available for FY 2007-2008, and $5 million is available for FY 2008-09.
- Q: I was looking at thin flexible solar panels as solar panels 500w a option to upgrade a 20w solar panel I have permanently mounted to the roof of a home made camper van.Why I was thinking flexible is at just 2mm thin they can be glued down and being flexible they will follow the contour of the rounded shape of the roof of my camper (boxy standard solar panel spoils the lines a little)Another reason is no glass to brake when traveling on dirt tracks(though I am surprised mine hasn't broken yet after thousands of km on corrugated dirt roads). Finally there is a weight saving at only /3 the weight or less then a standard glass panel. There are different grades of flex PV some of the more expensive ones are very flexible with extremely thin backing at around .5mm The ones I was looking at are cheaper and at around 2mm with a thin flexible aluminum backing.$250 is about the going rate for 20w OKorder job. Below is a pic of a smaller one 60w or so.Has anyone had any experience with them?

- Q: Are you a Solar Panel Specialist/Genius/Enthusiast?
- Yes and No. I'm hardly a 'genius' or 'specialist' but I have built a couple solar panels on my own. They're actually pretty easy to construct and you can find all of the materials at your local hardware store. Each panel cost me about $60 to make. Solar technology is jumping by leaps and bounds, becoming more and more efficient :photo voltaic cells, for example. Solar energy is a viable energy source, that's for certain.
- Q: I have to show in a project (a model house) how Solar Panels work. In my model I want to show Solar Panels creating electricity to power a T.V but I need to show how the power gets from the Solar Panels to the T.V. A diagram would be really helpful. Please try and make this as simple as possible as I'm only 3, but try and be specific as well!
- A solar panel is a device that collects and converts solar energy into electricity or heat. It transfers energy from the sun into electricity or heat which can be used by (for example) nearby buildings. Solar panels can be made so that the sun's energy excites the atoms in a silicon layer between two protector panels. The atoms split up and the electrons travel down wires into the home for electricity. Solar panels were in use over one hundred years ago for hot water heating in homes. Solar panels can also be made with a specially shaped mirror that concentrates light onto a tube of oil. The oil then heats up, and travels through a vat of water, instantly boiling it. The steam created turns a turbine for power. []
