- Q: Which is more efficient at producing energy? Reference(s) would be nice, but not required.
- Depends on the planet and solar panel. Generally, solar panels are more efficient according to these figures I bumped into. Photosynthetic efficiencies range from 0.% - 8%!
- Q: My home uses an average of 2400 kW per month (28,800 per year.) How much can I expect it to cost to install solar panels of this amount? (It is not my intention to go off of the electric company's grid. I would like to generate what I can / possibly sell back extra power)What quot;hiddencosts are there? What is the average life of them? What is the quot;best(cost effective and green) solution / approach?(BTW.... I am in southern LA if that makes a difference)Best answer will go to clear answer WITH links/resources to back it up!)THANKS A MILLION!!! I hope you have a safe and happy holiday season!!!
- Power inverter to change 2VDC panel power to 220VAC House power. (~$600) You are also going to need various switches and a meter to keep track of how much you are sending back to your power company. Final answer... Expect to pay ~$7,000.00 with installation by a qualified electritan.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on airports or transportation hubs?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on airports or transportation hubs. In fact, many airports and transportation hubs worldwide have already adopted solar energy systems to power their operations and reduce their carbon footprint. Installing solar panels on these facilities not only helps generate clean energy but also provides an opportunity for sustainable and renewable power sources.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in commercial buildings or industrial settings?
- Yes, solar panels can definitely be used in commercial buildings or industrial settings. In fact, they are increasingly being installed in such settings because of their numerous benefits. Solar panels not only help businesses reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to sustainability goals, but they also provide long-term cost savings by generating renewable energy and reducing electricity bills. Many commercial and industrial buildings have large rooftops or open spaces that are ideal for solar panel installations, allowing them to harness the sun's energy efficiently. Additionally, businesses can take advantage of various incentives and government programs that promote the adoption of solar energy, making it a viable and attractive option for commercial and industrial sectors.
- Q: Ok so I am planning on buying a solar panel. I am doing it to possibly sell the energy that it stores. It is a 20 watt panel so I am just wondering if every week or month if I sold that energy that it stored would make me a good profit. I am not hoping for thousands of dollars a month..just like 00? The solar panel cost me $,00 so if so, how long do you think it would take to make good profit. Also, how much would I make every week or month?
- I will give you the tools to answer your own question. Here is the solar resource map: rredc.nrel /solar/old_data/nsr... Use it to look up the hours of peak equivalent sunlight per day in your area. For example, let's say it's 5 hours / day. Then per year you get 365 x 5 = 825 hours of sun Your panel is 20 watts, or 0.2 kW So the energy produced per year is 825 x .2 = 383 kWh You'll have to use the proper numbers for your own area, of course. Anyway, you can take that 383 kWh and determine how much it would cost at local electric rates. Never know, on some islands, it's $.00 per kWh. Check with your local electric company for rates.
- Q: can solar panels have glass between the panels and the sun?
- As above, but also make sure the panels you use will still produce if partially shaded. Some older panels will quit producing if you so much as put your hand over a small portion of it. Newer ones don't do this but are more expensive. As you may need more panel area to produce enough energy to fill a battery (if that is how you go) make sure you have the room/roof area for additional panels.
- Q: My family moved into a house that came with solar power panels but they are not connected and don't really understand how to even begin.
- You need to know some electrical basics. You need to check if they are still working and determine the output voltage with the use of testers. They are just part of a system that includes other equipments as well like a controller, car batteries, inverters, diodes.
- Q: Interested to know if it is possible to install Solar Panels to run my Jacuzzi?Don't want to do the whole house just the jacuzzi anybody have any ideas Thanks
- You can do this by isolating the jacuzzi, you will need a solar array adequate for the power draw of the jacuzzi, a charge controller, battery bank, off-grid inverter and switch gear. This is the expensive way to go--especially if you are planning to heat the water with the solar. A better option would be to heat the jacuzzi with solar thermal panels. It is plumbing instead of electrical, but the cost would be much less. If you still want to do PV (electric) solar, think about putting a non-isolated grid-tie solar array on your home. They are much cheaper, and if you think about it, it really does not matter if you use the solar electricity to run a light, a fridge, a TV, or a Jacuzzi, that amount of power is subtracted from your overall house power bill. Just size the array for the power output of the jacuzzi, and let the power meter do the rest. Your overall result will be the same and the system will be half the price, or less.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a satellite?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a satellite. Solar panels on a satellite are designed to convert sunlight into electricity, which is then used to power various systems and instruments onboard the satellite. The panels are typically made of photovoltaic cells that generate electricity when exposed to sunlight, allowing satellites to operate in space where traditional power sources like batteries or fuel cells may not be practical.
- Q: My dad owns a restaurant, and we are doing farely well, but we were thinking on installing solar panels to minimize electricity costs (and of course make it greener). My dad would like to hear some numbers on the price in today (August 29/202) and savings he could possibly make over the years. So In Total Here's What I'm Asking:) Would it be hard to install?2) Maintanence?3) Monthly Expense? (None?)4) Price?5) Savings over time?6) Pros/ConsThank you so much!
- Different solar companies install these panels. Check your local area for a free quote. If you don't already have a solar panels for a hot water system yet, consider a thermosiphon design, then you need no electricity to produce hot water. All the other designs require some electricity.
