- Q:What is the thickness range available for plastic sheets?
- The thickness range available for plastic sheets can vary greatly depending on the type of plastic. However, commonly available plastic sheets can range from as thin as 0.01mm to as thick as 25mm or more.
- Q:What is the difference between EPS insulation board and XPS insulation board?
- XPS thermal conductivity is smaller than EPS, and has high heat resistance, low linear expansion ratio, the characteristics of the low, the obturator structure rate reached more than 99%, the formation of a vacuum layer, avoid air flow cooling, to ensure that the insulation performance of lasting and stable, with respect to the obturator rate of EPS 80%, the advantage is self-evident. Practice has proved that the insulation effect of 30mm thick XPS insulation board is equivalent to that of 50mm thick EPS insulation board and 120mm thick cement perlite. Therefore, in order to achieve the same insulation effect, the insulation thickness of EPS can be about 30% thinner than that of XPS. But since the price of XPS is about 2 times that of EPS, the economy of XPS is still not as good as that of EPS.

- Q:I have a 30 gallon plastic bucket that I cut a large square out of it and I have molded the acrylic sheet to the right shape, but is there anyway I can bond the acrylic to the plastic? It needs to be water proof and not leech any chemicals. It will be filled up with water and will hold some fish.
- All the plastic buckets I've seen so far are from PA, PP or PE - plastics chosen for their chemical inertness, which in turn also means that they're d*mn near impossible to glue (pretreatment with hot concentrated nitric acid is among the more accessible methods....). As is acrylic, btw. You might be able to weld them (chemically or thermally), but I wouldn't trust this weld if I did it for the life of the fish. If the overlapping area is large enough and the acrylic sheet goes on the inside of the bucket (so that the water pressure actually compresses the seam), you might try fish tank silicone. It won't really glue the parts together, but might stick well enough (probably until someone tries to poke it :-( ). But I doubt that you'll get that stuff in oe of the big box stores - ordinary builder's silicone or bathroom silicone are no good - they'll leach acetic acid and, in case of bathroom silicone, fungicides.

- PS board and acrylic board is not a kind of board. PS plastic ingredients are many, transparency is poor, pan blue, not wear-resistant, low prices, not applicable to do the word, you can do some splint painting.
- Q:Hi guys, I'm about to tile my bathtub surround and have some questions regarding moisture barriers. I already have the 1/2 durock cement board and 6 mil plastic sheeting. Before I put up the plastic sheeting on the studs, I wanted to double check to see what people thought was a better moisture barrier... Redgard painted directly onto the cement board or the 6 mil heavy duty plastic sheeting attached to the studs. If you pick one over the other, can you tell me why? Is there a difference in how well each one will protect from long term moisture problems? It would be nice to hear the pros/cons to Redgard vs the plastic sheeting.I'm debating whether or not I should just go buy some Redgard and leave my plastic sheeting for another purpose. But if they both offer the same long term protection, then I'm happy just sticking with my plastic sheeting since it will save me a trip to the store and I am more familiar with that as a moisture barrier.
- I've done a whole lot of this work over the years. Redgard is the best product I've ever seen for a moister barrier It's the standard for shower / tub surrounds. It's easy to use and will protect for a lifetime. Hang your cement board with the proper screws. Tape the seems and corners with fiberglass tape. Paint the redgard over the entire surface. Let dry; you know it's dry because it will turn from pink to red in color. Add another coat (or two) over the seems and corners to make sure the seems are sealed. Let dry. Install your tile or stone using thin set mixed with polymers. When you grout make sure to mix your grout with polymers. I know some guys who will use thin set to mud the seems before taping. This works well if you have some bigger gaps, but redgard is pretty thick stuff, like pudding. This type of installation will insure no water gets back behind your walls and will last a lifetime. Plastic has the issue of nail / screw holes, trapping water, and condensation. Redgard dose not because it is a moister barrier that you can lay tile directly on. There are other options and systems, but they tend to be more costly and harder to install. On a side note: I find redgard dose not apply well with a roller. It's very thick. I like to use a large brush. Plus a brush helps insure a good thick coat.

- Q:I'm looking to get my hands on some sheets of kydex to use for making my own custom gun holsters (or attempt to make some). I'd rather not have to order them off the web. I live in northern indiana and haven't been able to find anything around but my search hasn't gone on to long. If any body knows anything that would be great.
