- Q: Well I was thinking about the idea of renovating either a smaller school bus or building a tiny house and I was wondering if i can get some information on the size and watts panel should I use or more like how to get that whole solar energy in motion. Any infor and links would help
- I think that typical solar panels are 2'x4' and produce something like 800-000 wh per day. (That's 0.8 - kwh per day.) More in the summer, less in the winter, if they're aimed sort of at the sun. There are newer, more expensive panels that produce more. There are also thin film panels that are less expensive, and probably more sturdy. You then have a couple choices. In a house, you'd have an expensive inverter to connect to the utility power, so you can have power at night when your panels aren't generating anything. In a trailer, you want 2-4-6 deep cycle car batteries to store the power. Then you could have an inverter to convert that power to 20v AC, so you could use normal appliances. Or, you could buy appliances that run on 2 volts DC. Maybe a combination of both. You'll need to figure out how much power you're going to use, so you know how many panels and batteries you're going to need. The calculation is easy. Figuring out how much power you need is hard. You need deep cycle batteries because you can repeatedly charge them way up and run them way down. Ordinary batteries die fairly quickly when you do that.
- Q: I want to install a solar panel on my car. I want to know that how much energy can be generated by a panel of size 4 foot by 6 foot. and the cost of installation.
- A little more than 0 watts per square foot, so that size panel would generate 250 watts under ideal conditions, which is noon on a sunny but not too hot day, near the equator. That's about /3 horsepower, or the same power as a man working hard. That is larger than needed to keep the battery of the car charged, unless you plan to run a laptop or something off it at night. The power is also too small to power the car for driving. If it's an electric car, you could get maybe another 2 miles per day out of the car, again, under ideal conditions. An RV store might have an idea of how much installation would cost. They would be accustomed to solar panels for RV's, but probably not small cars. A panel of that size would cost perhaps $500-800 just for the panel.
- Q: 200 watt solar panel generates how much watts of electricity per month?
- Theoretically, for every hour that bright, direct sun shines on the panel, 200 watt-hours (0.2 kWh) of energy will be produced. In practice, the answer depends on temperature, orientation of the panel, and how many hours of sun are hitting it, including clouds and seasons. This varies tremendously by geographic location. In my region of California, such a panel will produce about 33 kWh a month on average - more in summer, less in winter.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a boat?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a boat. In fact, many boat owners choose to install solar panels as a reliable and sustainable source of energy.
- Q: So, I've seen cheap solar panel kits for sale from Harbor Freight, and regardless of whether or not I were to buy a set from them or someone else, I was wondering what the process of implementing a small-scale solar system into your household electrical system would be.I've read articles that started out too in-depth or were speaking of systems on a much larger scale. Can it be as easy as buying the panels and inverter, and plugging it into a socket, or is there more to it?Some of the articles I was reading had mentioned having to contract with your electrical supplier, having to have an electrician tie it all in in some special/ necessary way, using a battery pack (would this be necessary for a tied-in system?), or using the system to only power single items, like a water heater, or plugging items into a connected battery-pack, all of which I'm not sure is necessary or needed for what my goals/ means are/ would be.
- Take okorder /... This unit produces 45W for $90. Inverter is extra. Let's say this unit produces that amount of power for a full 2 hours a day, that's 45W * 2h = 540 Wh or 0.54kWh. If I save that from my electrical company, I would pay about 5 cents. $90 then takes 3800 days or 0 years. At that point, you haven't actually made any money, you've simply recovered what you paid out to buy the unit 0 years ago. Yes, electrical power prices will be going up over the long term but the output of this unit is also not going to be 45W over its lifetime (if it even lasts 0 years) so I really question the economics.
- Q: do solar panels create electricity from the ultraviolet light created from the sun? because they only have an efficientcy of like 8% and this scientist found out a way to collect the visible light also, and he says the solar panel could have an effeciency of up to 80%! so my question really is, do solar penels creat electricity from heat? do you know of anything that can?
- They create electricity from light energy provided by the sun....
- Q: I want to get a solar panel to run a fan (or two) for swamp coolers.I'm not looking to power 20box fans, just maybe some of those auto fans. What the heck kind of panel do I need? What is a power inverter and what does it do?Will I lose all my power if I use a 00' extension cord? How do I choose what I'm going to need?
- Solar panels turn sunlight into direct current electricity usually at 2, 24, or 36v. You could probably have a very simple system with just a panel and a few dc fans assuming that: the panels never put out more power than the fans can handle, you don't mind the fans slowing and stopping when the sunlight fades. If you want the fans running more of the time, you will need the panel hooked to a charger that charges a car/marine type battery and the fans connected to the battery. The longer the wires, the thicker they need to be (and more expensive). If you want to use AC (alternating current like your house uses) you will need an inverter (which turns DC into AC). Each device and each section of wire loses power due to inefficiency (heat produced). Contact a solar company on line, in person, or learn more.
- Q: Do solar panels require direct sunlight to generate electricity?
- No, solar panels do not require direct sunlight to generate electricity. They can still generate power even in cloudy or overcast conditions, although the amount of electricity produced may be reduced.
- Q: How does the size of a solar panel affect its performance?
- The size of a solar panel directly affects its performance as it determines the amount of sunlight it can capture and convert into electricity. Generally, larger solar panels have more surface area to absorb sunlight, resulting in higher power output. A larger panel can generate more electricity, making it more efficient and productive than a smaller one. Additionally, larger panels often have more individual solar cells, which further enhances their performance and efficiency.
