Q: The following have all been scratched to expose the iron.1. An iron strip coated in plastic2.An iron strip coated in zinc3. An iron strip coated in tin4. An iron strip coated in paintAll are in a salt solution - which would rust quickly?
iron strip coated in tin, because the iron sacrificially corrodes to protect the tin because it is more reactive than tin. (much like zinc corroding to protect ion). If you want the order from fastest to slowest, i would probably say: 3. iron strip coated in tin (due to sacrificial corrosion 2. iron strip coated with zinc (this time the zinc sacrificially corrodes for the iron, but then eventually the iron will corrode too) 1 and 4 should be similar, but i would go with 4 then 1, as paint is easier to get off than the plastic (evidence is chipped paint on walls, compared to plastic coated paperclip) Rish :)
Q: What chemical compound in bananas or raisins has the iron atom?

Nonheme iron accounts for more than 85% of iron in the average diet. However, less than 20% of nonheme iron that is consumed is absorbed into the body. Nonheme iron is absorbed better when it is consumed with animal protein and with vitamin C. Heme iron is absorbed much better than nonheme iron.
Q: im doing a school assessment on iron and i need your help pleaz :)
Lack of iron can lead to anemia
Q: I need small (like a few inches) rectangular iron plates, any help would be much appreciated.
Do you mean pure iron? If you do the first two ideas are not so hot since a lot of iron for structural building applications has been galvanized (coated with zinc) for corrosion resistance. Steel is mostly iron, but can contain things like vanadium and molybdenum or chromium and nickel if it is stainless steel. Cast iron can contain a lot of graphite. You don't say what you want it for, but if you are studying the chemistry of iron then you might want to be a little careful of the source of the metal. You can buy small pieces of pure iron from chemical supply companies like Alfa. If you need small pieces of iron for structural applications, the simplest thing is to order it from someplace like McMaster-Carr.
Q: 1.How is iron used in medicine? 2.What is its atomic symbol?and last.3.Why did people switch from using bronze to using iron? That would help alot!Thanks-J
1. Iron is an essential mineral. It's the key molecule in hemoglobin. 2. Fe 3. Because it's harder.
Q: It was wrinkled when I took it out of the package. Is it safe to iron it at least for the first time? It‘s 100% cotton, but I don‘t want to ruin a $45 shirt so I thought I better check first.
Instead, hang it in the bathroom then run a hot bath or take a hot shower and hang it in the humid room. That should get rid of the worst of the wrinking without ironing. edit: kim beat me to it :)
