Q: Landmine Inc. sold machinery for $27,000 on December 31, 2007. The machinery had been purchased on January 2, 2004 for $30,000 and had an adjusted basis of $21,000 at the date of the sale. For 2007, what should Landmine Inc report?a. Ordinary income of $6,000b. a 1231 gain of $3,000 and a $3,000c. A 1231 gain of $6,000d. A 1231 gain of $6,000 and $3,000 of ordinary incomee. None of the above.Since this is machinery and there is depreciation, woudl this be a 1245 machine? 1245 would make it ordinary, I think. Is this right? I think the answer is a.
I suppose since the total gain is $6000 and the depreciation taken was $9000, then the $6000 gain would all be recaptured as ordinary income under Section 1245. So the answer would be a.
Q: Where can my client find brochures for medical supplies manufacturing machinery?
He would need to know the manufacturer of the machine.
Q: Can anyone help me identify this logo/sign
not me
Q: i wouldn't believe this, but ....whenever my daughter becomes upset...things just stop working. has anyone else seen this phenomina
No evidence for this. James Randi offers $1 Million to anyone who can prove paranormal phenomena. It's just coincidence, but if you think otherwise, get together with some others and produce a study and go for the $1M.
Q: Farm machinery operates under very difficult situation in the field. For example, paddy fields are muddy with pesticide, fertilizer and other chemicals in which tractors containing steel and aluminum components operate. This results in corrosion of metallic component. Propose methodology for preventing corrosion in farm machinery.
For those parts which do not get heated up,apply coal tar,(Damar in Hindi),so that water can't come in contact with them.It will not wear off that easily. With those parts that get heated up,apply coconut oil, once in two or four days, depending upon machinery's use.Again clean with fresh water apply oil.In this way, both the metals are easily saved.
Q: Thanks for your help.
EPS (earnings per share) is unaffected by increases in cash. If a company sells machinery and property and it creates a gain (selling price is more than tax basis of assets), then EPS would increase, all things being equal.
Q: Wong Industries is depreciating the value of its machinery over a thirty-year life. Its original value was $1,000,000 and it is assumed to have a scrap value of $100,000. After 20 years, it is decided that the machinery still has another 20 years of life but it will then be worth nothing. Find a piecewise linear function that describes the broken-straight-line depreciation that the company is using. Please explain how you came up with your answer! Thanks
Since it originally had a lifespan of 30 years, it will lose $900,000 in 30 years, or $30,000 per year. V(t)=1,000,000 -30000t for the first 20 years. It's lost $600,000 in value and still is worth $400,000, but this will all go away after another 20 years or $20,000 per year... V(t)=400,000-20,000t for t between 20 and 40 years. I'll leave it to you to format this correctly :)
Q: ok so i have this history thing where we have to find dates for when different things were invented....and we have to find out when the mechanism for lining machinery was invented..i know that Elijah McCoy invented it but i have no idea when it was invented!!! please please please help!!!!!!!!!!! :)
the mechanism for lining machinery was invented in the late 1800s. i think around 1877? i'm not sure. it was definitely the late 1800s, though.
Q: Calf work outs BESIDES running that do NOT require machinery??
In ballet it's called a releve, but in normal terms, just lifting yourself while standing from a flat footed position, to the tip of your toes, works out your calves. To get an even better calf workout, stand up on the ledge of a fireplace, or on a sturdy coffee table, and let the back of your feet dangle off the edge, so that your feet are at an angle, then tense your muscles to raise yourself up to the tips of your toes, then slowly go back down. Keeps your legs straight, as this intensifies the workout. This lady in the link below talks for awhile. Just skip halfway in to see what I'm talking about (if it doesn't make much sense).
Q: improvements in machinery, technology and farming techniques?
No other segment of our economy has made the advances in productivity that agriculture has. The problem arises from the cost of highly sophisticated equipment needed to free our work force for other endevors. In the early 1900's about half of our people actually lived on the farm. today that is less than 2%. It can cost $200,000 to buy a grain combine and other equipment is priced comparably, yet no one will even write a farm loan in our county unless you own the land free and clear and are willing to accept less than a 1% return on that investment. If farmer's did not love their life style and independance we would all starve because they just wouldn't do this as pure business men. The result of this has been more corporate large scale farms even if they are operated by families and a lessening of attention to animal welfare, purity of produce, and concern for the quality of the output. Machinery is highly sophisticated. tractors guide themselves through the fields, fertilizer is applied using global positioning systems, and seed placement is very precision, all resulting to a reduction of labor and increased costs of production for prices that won't pay the bills.
