- I have known plenty of TBs like you describeTheir winter coat is about what a normal horse's summer coat would beI suggest you get 2 blankets, a light/medium one and a heavy oneWhen temperatures are below 0 the heavy one will be neededBut you will have some days when it's too warm for the heavy blanket, and the absolute worst thing is for a horse to get sweaty under a blanket because then they get chilledSo for those cool (but not COLD) days a lighter blanket will still be needed since your horse has no coat to speak of My horse actually has a range of weights so I always have the perfect blanket for the situationA sheet, a light blanket (100g fill), a medium blanket (200 g fill) and a heavy blanket (350 g fill with a neck cover too)Of course this might be overkill, and I do like to spoil my horsesBut at least 2 different weights of blanket will be better than just a heavy one.
