- Merino wool refers to the fiber - it is wool from merino sheepIt tells you nothing of the fabric constructionMerino wool jersey refers to a jersey knit of merino wool yarnspinwale corduroy panne velvet thermal knits interlock wicking polyester knits suedecloth peached rayon or poly velour kasha (ps: good flannel doesn't pillHard to find, though.)

- Q: I'm trying to buy some fabric online but I'm not sure what to go forI'm making a cosplay outfit that I'll be wearing in the summer and I want to go with something light, but not flimsy with any form of transparencyI was going to go for poly cotton but if pure cotton is more like what I need then I'd obviously want to go for that instead. If you have any other fabric suggestions I'd like to hear them, otherwise I'd just like to know what fabric would be most suitable.
- By cotton and poly-cotton, you're talking about fibers, not fabricsCotton, for instance, is a fiber and can be made into many fabrics, including broadcloth, twill, denim, shirting, corduroy, velvet, velveteen, plisse, seersucker, pincord, jersey, interlock and thousands moreThe blend of fibers makes no difference to opacity or weightthat's determined by the size of yarns used, by the weave or knit pattern, by the density of the weave or knit, etcEach of these fabrics above will hang a little differently, so what fabric is suitable for a garment rather depends on how the garment is supposed to hang (this is one of the most difficult things to learn in sewing)If you can point out the garments you want to make, we can suggest some possibilities.

- Q: which is a good insulator? whether wool or brick?
- You probably answered your own questionThe old stuff was not disposable and now that we're ecologically conscious we're looking for things that disintegrate in less than 20 yearsAnd/or maybe they were made of the 7 plastic that they've found to cause cancerLots of places have eliminated lots of thingsMy apartment has no medicine chest or closet, and we're not allowed to attach anything to the walls with nails so therefore I can't have a medicine chest.
- Q: I have a 85 year old house with 0 insulationIt has plaster walls and part of the home has the high cielingsI was considering blown in insulation at least in the roofAny one quot;Been there done thatquot;?
- 3M makes a double-sided sticky tape that's much stronger and lighter than duct tape.
- Q: I have plans to remove the 20 year old Manville gold fiberglass, paperbacked insulation from between my floor joists in my basementThe paper backing was facing downMy reason for doing so is to replace it with recycled cotton or denim insulation for a better look, and its safer; less itchyI do alot of adding of wiring and such im my basement and i'm sick of dealing with the fiberglass insulation as wellIs recycled cotton or denim insulation without a backing okay to put up there? Do i need that vapor barrier? The basement is not heatedAlso i was thinking i'd just put the old fiberglass insulation in my attic because it needs more anyhow, due to the old insulation settlingShould i remove the paper backing if i decide to do this?
